I need new power steering pump for my 95 Mark VIII. I have leaky old stock power steering lines also, need those. Should i get the one for the 2001 SVT Cobra motor i have in there now?
Or Get the Stocker 95 Mark VIII PS pump to replace it with? Wondering if one or the other was smaller or had better internals???? or if the 2nd Gen Mark VIII had a btter pump???

Also im on the hunt for an AC condenser raidiator. When i mounted the intercooler i drilled into the bottom of the AC condenser radiator on accident when the drill gripped and yanked and Freon went everywhere, scared the hell outta me. haha
Can i run the car with no refirgerant in it for a while till i get condenser from parts donor car?
I'm assuming the AC compressor won't lock up if it senses theres no refrigerant in it? It should just freewheel on the pulley right? I just won't have AC.

Nothing will happen to the compressor.

On the PS pump... the marks have great reliable units. I would even go as far as putting a nice low mile used unit in vs buying a reman new. Remans tend to be inferior to OEM.

If you're not going to use the compressor, just spend the little cash for a smaller belt and pull it off. It'll look cleaner, there will be no parasitic drag, and its one less thing to cause a problem... Not to mention ease of service when you have more space.

My $0.02.

Thanks guys

Thanks guys

Wanted to know if it would be fine just freewheelin for a while. Nope, i have to keep the AC as this will be my daily driver or a 2000-2001 model grand prix after i get it tuned.
I'll look into getting a used low milage stocker Mark VIII PS pump takeoff with the hoses. And also a condenser radiator.
Thanks for the input everyone.

I don't know the specifics on each pump, but the main thing I can think of would be pulley size. Its basically the same engine, but the pumps still can be different. Just to make sure you don't have any fitment issues I'd say get a Cobra pump if thats what type of engine you have in the car.

Talk to Jamie and snatch up a good used one. There isn't a difference from new/used except on the condition of the outside of the Condensor.

You CAN run the car with NO freon, it won't hurt anything. The compressor will NOT turn at all...ever. The pulley on the A/C clutch will just spin freely.

It SHOULD just freewheel.....

It WILL just freewheel. :D

It'll look cleaner, there will be no parasitic drag, and its one less thing to cause a problem...

How does removing the A/C Compressor cause it to look cleaner, not to mention he'll have to remove all the A/C lines AND the condensor to make it look clean?

Also, there is not going to be an noticable parasitic drag from a freewheeling pulley, its pretty much just like an idler pulley now.

Wanted to know if it would be fine just freewheelin for a while.

You'll be just fine. :D

Yeah, but it's still there. And yeah, you'd have to remove the lines, but that's just my opinion, I guess. If it doesn't serve a purpose, I don't like having it in there. Again, just my opinion.
