Why can't i get Flash?

A virus destroyed my computer (again) so I bought Win XP pro, and I downloaded flash, but when I run the install program nothing happens and flash won't work. any ideas?

Also, I thought XP pro was supposed to come with Word and excel and all those goodies, i have several files that require MS word, how do i go about getting it? Thanks in advance

Update, apparently flash will work using explorer but not Firefox. Any idea what setting to change on firefox? worked fine on my last install...

Do you have a "POP-UP" blocker installed? You may have to get the blocker "permission" to allow the Flash to work.

If not that, check out what I just told Sharon (Trixie) about her problem with JAVA . Delete and reference to Flash or it's manufacturer(Macromedia) from the Registry....read the warnings about the registry.

yeah i read earlier today that apparently firefox's new adblocker stuff blocks all flash, which is a huge PITA since i need flash to access my webmail, but the adblock was one of my favorite things about firefox. thanks for the help!
