Why gen 2's run poorly

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

a cobra does clear the gen 2 but you need to cut some stupid suport egr braket in the back that is a pain in the but. it is no big deal it is of now real support. it looks like a L type thing hanging down from the hood in the back.

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

You say about $350, huh? I was bidding on one somewhere, and it ended up going for $660. I think someone wanted it bad.

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

yea 350 or so msot places... there for a while it was hard to get them for less than 450, then the prices went down when 99+ became more available. The first cobra intake i had I sold for 275$ and that was a lot back then.. Funny how things change

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

I'm going to have to say the bottom one. The top one looks like Dennis' car, and if i recall correctly, he has PI heads, which none of the marks came stock with. You want to find on that fits a (i believe) 95 to 98 Cobra, the 99+ Cobras came with PI heads, and i'm pretty sure the intake is a little different.

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

PI is not the right word for them they are known as the tumble port heads. dennis has fox lake ported 99 cobra heads with a extrude honed 99 cobra intake manifold.

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

I have been following this thread for almost a month and I've yet to see a list of the pieces needed to make the swap.

Can someone make a list of the parts - that "the rest of us" can follow? Years - part numbers - etc...

RE: Why gen 2's run poorly

I sent my intake to robman to see if it made more power and to see exactly what was needed to install one on a gen 2. This was the response I got on Saturday:

"Eli, Looks good, i think the fuel rails will work,

The differences I found today so far, are as follows.

Throttle pulls from the front on my Mark 8 not the rear like the cobra.
I think the throttle cables will have to be changed for longer ones.

The water crossover pipe bolts to my intake and that is what holds it
in place.

Looks like I will need a cobra water pipe? Wierd though because the one
from the Vortech kit fit right on the car..

I will look into that farther.

Going to Ford today for gaskets etc.. going to pull it and do a test
fit to see what really needs to be done.
I am sure I can fab up a blockoff for the EGR.
Then I will just need to cap up the tubes that run from the back of the
motor to the valve."

He also infrmed me that the cruise may not bolt up without modification, and also the EGR is not a direct bolt on either. He will be taking pics and documenting everything for all of us. If anyone else has questoins feel free to post them here or send me an email.
