Wipers stop in the up position?

Today it was raining and for some reason my gen2 mark's wind shield wipers keeps coming to rest in the up position only when you turn it off....everything else with them works as it should though, even the intermittent works and pauses at the bottom ...Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know what it can be?
 
Do a search on wipers (In Electrical)...there are MANY posts about this generic problem with M-8's.....AND the answers.
 
i have the same problem with my gen 2 and it drives me insane! along with everyother electrical problem and hvac problem that marks are known for... fixed most need door ajar fixed (wd) or whatever and wipers
 
YES! This is exactly what is happening with my '91' Continental. It works fine on intermittant, but when I turn them off they go back to the up position. What gives?
 
I've read that it's a pin that is sticking inside the part that connects the motor to the arms that go to the wiper arms (or something like that). It can be fixed by taking it apart and freeing up the pin.

Sorry I can't be more exact, but I never had this problem. Try searching, you should be able to find more details.

I can't verify that exactly, but I do know that the problem is in the parking mechanism and not the motor proper. So if you're buying a motor from an auto parts store, make sure it includes the parking mechanism (it looks like some sort of gearbox on the end of the motor and has a yellow plastic cap on it). I bought a motor from NAPA several years ago and it didn't include the parking mechanism, so I swapped out the existing one and installed it, only to find I had the same problem.
