The Tampa Bay area consists of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Bradenton with a population of about two million. This has been a stressful month for us. First Bonnie threatened but then missed and hit the Florida panhandle as a tropical storm. Then Charlie (cat 4) was aimed at us but when it was a few hours away it turned right and hit Punta Gorda traveling across the state doing $7 billion in damages and killing 27 people. We got a little rain out of Charlie. A week later there was Francis. She came across the state and hit us as a tropical storm with 70 mph winds and torrential rain. It was a huge storm and lasted a couple of days. Hundreds of thousands of people were out of power. Many still are. Every river and stream in the area is flooding. Now there’s Ivan (cat 4). He should get here Tuesday. I went to Home Depot to get a new bottle of propane for my grill. What an ordeal! Traffic was bad and everyone was in a hurry. Rudeness prevailed. At Home Depot the parking lot was full. The only plywood left was ¼” or ¾” birch that people were buying to cover their windows. Most gas stations were out of gas and the few that had gas also had lines of impatient people waiting their turn. Every house has a pile of fallen branches out front and everyone is apprehensively watching Ivan. We hope it goes elsewhere even though we don’t want it to hit anyone else. Wish us luck!

i will take snow winters any day. the chance that at every thing we know can be wiped out if the storm turns our way really sucks. it is like worry about dropping a nuke near your house. i wish every one good luck. Jack if you get messed up you can move in with me for a while i have a spare room.

My power just came back on Saturday morning at 2am here in Daytona-Deland.....It was off for 6 days, but all I did was work anyway...a 36 hour shift for Charley and a 48 hour one for Frances servicing emergency management and their shelters..Sent my daughter to my ex's place for the week with the pets, so I just camped out by candlelight at the local pub in the evenings, it was kinda fun, but not that much fun...People are weary, you can see it in their eyes. .....There was little gas available.....Little food...No money....no phones.....no ice...
I hit a downed tree with my Mark and tore the front end right off the car....need a new grille now and a passenger mirror...Its pitch black out there with debris everywhere...4 kids got killed here when they drove their cycles into a fallen oak tree....Danger lurks everywhere as water is EVERYWHERE.....IVAN GO AWAY....we can't take another hit..

i remember after andrew having to go to my pool with a bucket to get water. then we had to take to rest room with us in order to fill the tank. man peeing in dark is a pain. there are a lot of places that never even rebuilt after andrew. good luck guys you are going to need it. and if there is any thing you need from down here let me know i will send it up. any thing but ICE. LOL.
