Wood Dash Kits

I mentioned this in my nearby thread about a wood wheel (still looking for one that fits). There are so many wood dash kits available for the Mark VIII, but does anyone have any experience with any of them? I tell you what; I used to think these things were kinda cheesy, but if you look at the (purported) quality and PRICE of some of them, they actually don't look half bad. Most of the kits are even supposed "matches" to the factory dark burlwood. Any Feedback?

The only kits I have ever seen were cheesy and cheap at best... now that's not too say that someone out there makes a high quality kit.

I think most look cheesy and "add on." What I diod, however, was swap out the dull wood radio/climate surround with the shiny one from a CE. I also have the wood shifter from the CE. Those two items made all the difference in the world. I got lucky and found a damaged center surround and had it repaired by a furniture repair shop, came out like new and I saved $300.

I still want to redo the 'no wood' trim in my '93 to a dark blue carbon fiber overlay.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna take the plunge. I found a 19 piece kit that is supposedly a "factory match" dark burlwood. It's only $212 and if it's any good I think it will really enliven my otherwise staid (black w/ black) LSC. Unless, leo, where and how did you get that CE stuff? If I could locate CE radio surround / shiftknob / or wheel I would be very pleased. You think Lincoln still sells those parts? They can't be less than impossible to find in a junkyard.

The previous owner had put in the shifter but the surround I found on ebay for only $60  because it had a chip out of it. I'm not sure but you could try a Lincoln dealer who can do a search nationwide to see if anyone has a wheel, it costs nothing to ask. Junkyards too can do a search nationwide.

Which wood are you looking for, these ? Or is yours gen II?

No, my car is a 98' LSC. I would love something similar to what you posted, but I have been looking and I can't seem to find much. What I do find somtimes doesn't even fit because I've got the seat heaters, and many kits do not have those cut - outs.
