Soo, i was out working on the car today with garage door opened and went inside to make some PBJ toast and choc milk for lunch. I come back outside and two white golden retirver pups from my neighbors house were in the garage, eating my carpet i had laid out that was going back into the car. They looked at me with deer in headlight look, then bolted out the door leaving scraps behind and fuzz from the jute mat. Its ripped and destroyed from them chewing on it. Was perfect, now its trashed.

I called neighbor and he said hed pay for it, but all thats available is that cheap thin mat weave of the 90s. And it doesnt go all way back under the edge. Its too short.

any know of where i can get an original factory black ONE PIECE MOULDED carpet like original deep plush thick weave? Dont know any buisnesses that make them now that make them like original. Wondering how much this is going to cost me. Ill take pics tommorow.

Keep your eyes out Jamie. Its worth a drive down there for me to get quality OEM carpet. Ive seen order online kits for between 178.00 to 300.00 but didnt want to go that route. Want the original thick carpet, not replacement. When i ordered the replacement for last car, the folds and creases werent exactly matching no matter how much they said perfect fit. They werent they are mass produced and do not match or fit without alot of tack adhesive to hold down.
Its a one piece moulded shell like this for those that never did it..Hopefully when i bring this one down to ulphostery shop they have that heat weld carpet duct tape and iron for the back side and it will hold the drivers side portion together. Thats the only spot youll see. The other tears are under the console area and wont be seen.

Thank you but i think youre right on the shipping. Not quite sure how we would have to roll that up with duct tape and slip it into a big box.

Im bringing it down to the local ulphostery guy today to see if he can "reweld" it from behind with carpet stiching tape and special hot glue. If i cant see the mend after we rough up the pileings on interior side, Ill end up keeping this one in service. Its all good except for the drivers side foot part that youll see wrapping around the carrier tunnel for the tranny. The other rips you wont see up under the console, ect.

Ill keep you in the loop. Just got over my Lasic Eye surgery to correct for nearsightednes, so im taking it slow and doing one thing at a time. So far so good now that i can actually walk out into the sunlight again. haha I felt like a vampire for a bit there hiding from bright light of the day. haha

Looks like the carpet/ upholstery guy said he cant fix it. He said i would see the repair after he was done and i wouldnt be happy with it. So no, he cant fix it. So im hunting for nice low milage original carpet factory molded. I was not happy with the last brand new carpet i ordered for the blue car. Still got plenty to do on the other car before i get to the carpet, so i got some shopping time i suppose.

Go to Picknpull online and search around Santa Cruz for some Lincolns in their yards. If you see anything near me I'll go look for you. :)

Ty J, im looking for a factory black carpet with the insulation and lil styrofoam footrest thats attached to the bottom. No ciggarette burns or dried up gum, stains or boogers embedded in the carpet. Lol I think its gonna be hard to find a nice one in a salvage yard, but you never know. (most of what ive seen here in yards are trashed). Kinda hunting a totaled car like michas thats being parted out. Got anything kicking down there Jamie?

Nothing noted on santa cruz site now for marks, but there scattered about tx and arizona ect.
Jamie, im pretty sure the 1st gen and 2nd gen carpets are the same???? Shouldnt i be hunting for a 1998 black carpet instead of one for a 1995? Floorpans are same i think, just body work changed?. I think even the doors are the same, just different mirrors.

Waco TX has got like 8 of them. they have the most on the total US list.

There is the link. There are several "kinda" local although the Moss Landing one is about 15 minutes away. Let me know. :) I think you're right though...gonna be touch but shouldn't be too tough because these cars really are cheap. I see Gen 1s for sale locally for $1000 all the time and that's when PicknPull scoops them up.

Wow, you got alot around you too. I guess if you see a pretty one thats black with no burns or water damage from broken window leaking sunroof ect. Lemmie know with a phone pic. But im in no hurry right now, got a ton of other things on plate now with side buisness that have prority cause they pay. Money comes first i guess, then playtime for the hotrod. lol Just dont make a special trip just for me, but when youre out and about snooping the yards as i call it, keep me in mind and snap a picture or two. I can pay cashiers check or them with credit card over phone if a nice one is found.
Thank you again for hunting.

Cool...I'll keep that in mind. Probably be awhile before I see a 97 Praire Tan in there so it'd be a special trip just for you. :) PM me your phone number.....

(In case your salvage yard search doesn't work out)
I ordered (and installed) a pre-molded carpet from this supplier - It is definitely more work than transferring another OEM carpet in, but with a little patience, and creative use of adhesives, etc. I got some great results. I cut some of the various padding sections from the original carpet, and glued them in place on the floor panel before installing the carpet over them.
