WTB: I need a motor

Anyone have a motor they can sell me on the cheap?

My uncle has been driving my mark 8 lately. Today, he called me and said it died. He said it just stopped, gave out a puff of blue smoke. No noises or anything. He said he was slowing down for a stop sign at the time. But it won't crank. Can't turn the motor over with a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt. Tightened the bolt, though. Seems like it's siezed up tight.

Looks like I can find one from a junkyard fairly cheap. $350 or so local, with a few miles on it. But, if Bill or Jeremi, or anyone else local happens to have one laying around...

Maybe if you stopped fooling around with that boat, you could just buy a nice MK8 huh... :p

I can buy a car if you need an engine. It would be $500 though to make it worthwhile. It would have less than 100k miles, and pulled from a running car, not some j/y crap.

and then Jeremi will use his magic to make the motorless car look better then yours and run faster 1/4 miles... :p

I don't need you to buy a car to get me a motor, Jeremi, but if you had one laying around, i'd take it off your hands.

I did search the junkyards and it seems like I can get an engine for $350-$450. I'll have to see what all that includes. I want a motor that's complete, preferably even with accessories and coil packs, so that I just don't have to mess with all that much. Just drop it out the bottom and drop the car on the new one. Usually a junkyard will have a short warranty too.

This will be a slow process, though. I have so much other broken crap right now that it's just not funny.

I wonder who's 1st gen is towing a certain someone named "Dave"...'s 2nd gen out of a parking space at Carlisle... ? :D

Lol, that was funny. Those drag radials just wouldn't do anything in the mud!

My mark is still sitting, it's in line behind the waverunner right now. I think I'll bump the broken snowmobiles to the end of the line though, and let the mark take cuts.

nice to see where your priorities are... :p

You know John has that Imola Ice 95, HIDs, black int, with a brand new Teksid (or however that's spelled) complete motor, ready to go... :D

Well I got a motor and put it in. $450 with tax and whatnot, under 100k miles supposedly. 45 day warranty. If it blows i'll be surprised if I have it out of the car in 45 days!

But it runs. It runs hot.

First test drive, it's puking coolant. It seems to have developed a hole in the radiator.

Another $150 later, and everything seems to be working, but it's running hot. Not pegging the gauge hot, but closer to the N than the R/M range it should be. Up to 220 or so on my IR gun.

Probably another $200 in fluids too. So probably $800 gone.

Core on the old motor was $25. It's worth more than that in scrap!
