The F250 turbo diesels were a favorite of mine for many years. My last one was an '02 F250HD extended cab PowerStroke. I was 'down graded' to a F150 as my duties shifted more away from actual field work. Due to my seniority, I was told I could have any F150 I wanted. I never was a fan of the popular King Ranch model, so I chose the '06 Harley Davidson Edition.

They wouldn't let me have a Mark LT. :frown:

I have a Turbocharged Ford Contour SVT with nearly 400 HP as my daily driver. And my other car is a 1100 HP Dragster. Not comfortable at all but, damn it is fast.

Dang! The SVT's are fast, but that has gotta be scream'n fast!

The SVT has a 3.0 liter V6 instead of the normal 2.5 to start with. It is a very fast, fun car. Smooth, quick, stop on a dime brakes, and handling that is amazing. It still gets 28 mpg when you get your foot out of it ( not really possible but a nice thought! ). I had to detune it about 50 hp by taking boost out of it just to make somewhat civil. At 10lbs of boost it was impossible to drive without spinning the tires even in 3rd gear. I loved it so much that I just bought another Turbo SVT and gave the green one to my son. They really are an impressive car.

The dragster on the other hand is Violent, unforgiving, noisy, expensive, and makes you piss your pants when it launches at close to 5 g's. It hurts your neck and back on every pass and I love it.

I love my extremes. Quiet Lincoln Mark 8 all the way to an uncivilized dragster.

Don, what track do you go to? I'd love to see you run the dragster and learn more about it in person. Then we can have a meet! Maybe someone could run my car for me?

Sorry - our other car, my son's is a 2000 Mustang GT. He just put headers on it along with some other stuff. Neither of us have gone to the track in quite a while. And Hubby's car is also a Mark 8. And I don't know where any of my pics are anymore, lol.

I race all over. That picture was at the US Nationals at Indy. I will be in Pomona California all the way to Gainesville Florida. The closest track to you would be Joliet, there is a great dragstrip there on I-53 south of Joliet. My season is about done right now, 2 races left. I don't normally tow the racecar to California from Illinois but will next season. I am contracted by many teams that use my Crew Chief software so I am at most of the big races.

I don't see many Marks at the track. I used to race my green '93 quite a bit.

By the way, here is an interesting set of pictures from a video, sorry the quality is not good but the pictures are interesting. You can see the violence when a race car launches.

* Just Before Launch.

* At the Instance of the power hitting the tire. Notice the tire distortion.

* A few milliseconds later the tire is really complaining now. The front end is off the ground at this time also, so there is no way to steer the car!

Don, a bunch of us were at the NHRA/NMCA SuperBowl at Route 66 Raceway this past summer. I ran my '93 in the True Street class.

That event is probably a class or two below your dragster though! LOL :D

Cool, racing any class is fun. Was it a bracket race also?

Nah, no brackets at the SuperBowl since it was so crowded with two sanctioning bodies battling each other. The True Street class has you running a 30 mile street cruise then 3 heads-up hotlaps down the quarter-mile, averaging your times and picking winners by 1 second indexed intervals. I actually took my 13 second Mark VIII and slowed it down to be competitive for the 14.0 class and ended up runner up by mere thousandths of a second.

Like you said, fun none the less. :D

nice cars. Them csvt's with the 3 liter turbos are nice. I got a buddy who picked one up over the summer, easily a 12 second car I'm guessing.

VeeDub is the grocery-getter and dog hauler. Poor little bugger took one for the team this past summer. I've had the windows tinted since this picture was taken. You can see part of "Big Wheel" on the other side.

I've had the blue Mustang longer than I've had my husband!

The Big Black Truck is my husband's evil companion.

Nice HATCH! Slap some Cobra R's on there and lose the old Eagle 5 stars and it would really set it off. You know what they say about a car with nice rims.....
The SVO type spoiler on the hatch looks decent too. :D

Yep, it's definitely time for a wheel upgrade. And oh yes, they will be chrome!

I've had those wheels on her since 1991, when the "star" shape was a new thing ;)
