Kooks header failure

Would Cobra manifolds provide enough flow for an NA or boosted setup without any noticeable decrease in performance over headers? Of course after this whole fiasco, I am curious now.
what happened with the headers you had?Did you get the problem resolved?I was wondering because i was just about to get a set.

I have a buddy that knows a very good welder that I am waiting to hear back from. After looking it over again, it is looking promising for getting a welder in there to put a patch on it. At this point, I don't think I will even bother calling SCP, put I may shoot him an email and show him what happened. Maybe he'll have something to say.

Honestly, I am not a welding pro or know enough about it, but if you get a set, I would check into having a professional welder look at the headers and examine all of the welds and possibly reinforce them if need be

You may want to keep an eye out on Temple Performance also like I am. He was gauging interest in making a set of longtubes for our cars cheaper than the Kooks, but I haven't heard any updates from him about it. I know there is many members with the interest that are pushing him to make it happen.

Finding a used set of Kooks is going to be IMPOSSIBLE.

Don't hold your breath. I've heard from so many people/companies that say they've got a MarkVIII part in "planning" that I've lost count. Honestly I don't know how they're gonna get a long tube to clear but hey if he can do it then awesome. As far as the KOOKS go.... every company can and will turn out a bad product every now and then. I've had mine a year and all good so far.

I'm going to wait the 6 months. If they're not ready,i will just get the Kooks and hope for the best.I have a set (Kooks)on my GT500 for over a year now and they still look great, very pricey though...just unsure about them for the lincs because what i have seen on here.

I have a set of Kooks on my car now for over 5 years. They are SS 3" mid length that I bought from Bill and I have no problems, although the car isn't a daily driver it does it exercised weekly. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. Besides, there really isn't a better game in town.

I think this goes back to what I've said several times. Every company no matter who it is... will turn out a few lemons. Maybe they had a bad employee, poor metal sent to them etc. Humans make errors. I don't see condemning the whole company because of a few that went wrong. If I did that I'd of stopped buying Ford products years ago... :p

I've seen a couple sets custom fabricated over the years, so it can be done.
But were they effective? I've seen "custom" headers on several cars and some looked and performed great and some that we put on the dyno didn't improve over the stock manifolds and some still that lost power over stock manifolds. Those were mostly teenagers though who just thought headers were tubes that didn't need any kind of tuning

lookin good!!!nice!I am guessing the EGR is turned off in the tune?
Thanks! ;)

Yes the EGR is capped off and turned off in the tune. Combustion chambers will actually stay cleaner without the EGR valve since exhaust gasses are not being recirculated through the system. :)
