Synthetic gear oil for trac-loc? Capacity? Proper weight?

I recently installed a 3.73 Traction-Lock pumpkin that I also got from Max @ Five Star. I installed it less than 2 weeks ago and it has been trouble free. I did not drain the factory oil or anything. I just used it as it was shipped. I don't get any chatter or anything. The "posi" itself is...

    My engine buildup *More PICS*

Impressive pictures of the bottom end and block. Very good looking connecting rods too. Are these connecting rods stock? If they're not, could someone post a link to a picture of what a stock rod looks like?

Stuttering, stumbling, and other electrical problems...

PHRANQUY - Hmm... I could have sworn that the major part of the "tube" that the spark plug sets way down in - is part of the valve cover and not the aluminum head. I guess that fact that it has aluminum heads never occurred to me! Shame on me for not thinking about that. Oh well, I definitely...

Stuttering, stumbling, and other electrical problems...

You'll probably find that Max @ FiveStar has the best prices on the coil boots. At least, that's what I found out when calling locally. Interestingly, when I was talking to a few local parts guys, two of them said they took brand new pickup trucks home only to remove the boots and coat them...

3.73 Pumpkin swap tool & procedure checklist

Oh... settle down Sleeper!!! I drove it for about 30 mile when I got it done and then parked it becuase I had to do family stuff!! It was worth the effort overall. I wish it didn't cost as much as it did to get the improvement that it yielded though. This is just wishful thinking! One gripe...

3.73 Pumpkin swap tool & procedure checklist

Finally got the project done!! It took a little longer than planned, but it was worth the effort. Thank you to all that posted the hints and suggestions. I certainly appreciate all of it. :D

3.73 Pumpkin swap tool & procedure checklist

It looks like some of the previous posts to this thread may have been lost during the "maintenance" of the forums. One hanging question that I know I had was: does anyone know the size of nut on the other side of the infamous "Torx 50" on the spindle? I want to go ahead and just buy that...

    Message Center: Check Traction Control

You know... I was just driving around running some errands and wondering if the sensors could be being "blocked" by debris or leaves, moss, etc that may have blown up from the road. I plan the 3.73 pumpkin swap this weekend. I'll definitely inspect the rear sensors and see if maybe they're...

    Message Center: Check Traction Control

Marcia, No, no other messages besides the "Check Traction Control." I have tried basically nothing since this has happened. I am able to push the "Reset" button and clear it. If I run a system check, it cycles through all of the goodies and returns the CTC message back on the display.

    Message Center: Check Traction Control

Hi all, Just last night and once this morning, I got a "Check Traction Control" in the message center. It has shown up under nearly identical conditions both time: normal braking for a traffic light on dry pavement going perhaps 3 or 4 mph - just about to stop. The traction control still...

    Squeky sound from belt area

I can get you part numbers that were used on mine: F8AZ-6B209-AA Tensioner Assembly F8AZ-8260-AA Belt The miles were 24,463 and I haven't heard a peep since. It can't be too complicated because they did it in about the amount of time I took to run to the soda machine. If you look at it, you...

    Squeky sound from belt area

I had the belt tensioner quit "tensioning" on me. Or, at least it wasn't tensioning enough. Fortunately, it was under warranty. It caused the belt to squeak until it heated up a little bit. I noticed it mainly when the engine was cold and I was pulling away from the house.

The computer "shell" comes apart. You should be able to take the back half of the case off and do the bottom terminals too.

    oil change

I take my car back to the dealer for the oil changes. They're very competitive with prices and offer a 30 minute guarantee. So far, I've got 3 of my oil changes for free because they take too long. They also lube the hood hinges, door hinges, etc. They check tire pressure and other things...
