With the door panel removed I had to remove the speaker to get to the door thinngy.

Thanks for the info, my door spring gizmo which prevents the door from opening too wide broke off where the bracket is screwed onto the door. It seems that the bracket is part of the assembly which mounts in the door. I will have to remove the door panel to replace it. xo
