1999 Town Car Air Ride.

I drove to a friend's wedding in Plano, TX. If I'd been on my own, I would have tried to meet up with a few folks on the way down. I made the drive back in 14 hours. Not too shabby.
This trip also left me with a somewhat significant fix-it list. Input on any of the comments below is welcome and encouraged.

-I learned that it has a shake while driving that is much more pronounced while applying medium brake pressure. It could be front rotors, although I'm more suspicious of the tires, which are down to the wear indicators.

-The transmission has a shudder while it contemplates downshifting from overdrive while cruising.

-It loses oil at the rate of about 1 quart/1000 miles. I'm hoping it is a leak.

-The secret storage bin in the driver's armrest of the most convenient thing ever. I love it.

Now for the list of complaints: :)

-The trip meter although digital, only has 3 digits. Seriously Ford. Who the heck thought /that/ was a good idea. It rolled over twice on that trip.

-No place on the dashboard does it tell me the date, or day of the week like my '86 does.

-The turning circle is MASSIVE compared to my '86. This might be my single biggest complaint. I'll get used to it, but it makes parking much more difficult.

-No "keyless entry" keypad on the driver's door. (I assume most still have this. I just happened to get the one and only one that does not.)

-No "vent" mode on the climate control. it seems to be either heat or A/C

-Not nearly as intimidating in other driver's mirrors as the '86. The great big front-end of the '86 definitely made an impression. The rust on the old car probably didn't hurt this concept either though.. Looking out over that broad, flat hood really did make you feel like you were in charge of the road.

So I was out running errands last night, and happened to notice a completely empty Jiffy Lube. I swung in and had them perform a "100% transmission flush" It seemed like an easy first step. I was informed that the fluid was "just really bad, but not imminent explosion bad." So I'll take that as a good sign. I haven't driven it far enough to know if it fixed the shudder.

They also said my oil pan gasket was leaking. So I guess that's easy enough. I may add that to my "spring fix-it list"

Mine loses the amount same oil but my pan is not leaking and it is not burning it....so I guess the oil fairy is steeling it.

I have some of the same complaints and a few other ones as well. The TC still rocks my face off though!
