IV been hunting for a 2nd gen mark viii WITHOUT a sunroof. I've looked at probably 15 online and have yet to find one. Do these even exist or am I wasting my time?

I did not have a sun roof in my 97, I did not want one as I am tall and wanted more head room. The headliner is a bit lower to accommodate the panel when you retract the sun roof. Also there are a few 2nd gens that had the roof installed as aftermarkets by the dealers.

Yea ID like the extra headroom and ive heard that there is a drain that runs inside the rocker panel for the sunroof that causes rusting

i want summer
Don't blame the drains
I have a clean car with a sun roof and a rusty one without
Its about taking care of the car and keeping it away from Salt.

My 97 doesn't have a roof. Trust me I looked long and hard to find a low mile mint no roof 2nd gen LSC. Seems like they unicorns or expensive again when/IF you find them.

I don't know the mix, but I would guess that it was 50/50 for the ones I looked at when trying to find one, and fewer sun roof cars in the junk yard.

I didn't want one, for me it is distracting and bad things happen to the interior here with them. Plus it is almost always AC weather, rarely is outside air the answer, even now.

my 98 LSC I just sold did not have a sunroof.
Our 97 LSC we used to own also did not have one.
In fact, I've seen more gen 2's WITHOUT than WITH.

Hope you find one. I prefer to not have one...less worry with leaks, or something failing. My 94 had one, and the plastic trim for the sliding shade cracked when opening it one day...nothing I could do to avoid that.
also the opening seal (on factory roof, not ASC add-on roof) failed on my brother's 93....so while they may be nice for some, some of us dont want/need them.

I can see why somebody wouldn't want a sunroof. No worries about leaking/breaking and maybe a little extra headroom. I'm 6'3", have the seat bottom raised all the way up and still have an inch to spare. I don't sit straight up though.
Fwiw, minus a few brackets needing tightening (All accessible w/o removing headliner) my sunroof has been trouble/leak free for the entirety of my ownership... 50k, currently @ 173k.

As for the rust, happens to all of em'. If you plan on keeping it a while I'd buy a southern specimen. At this age the majority of northern cars have seen their fair share of winters.
