94 Towncar Passenger Rear Sag

Here is the story,

I recently replaced the rear Air Springs do to what it look like a bad right air spring. The Passenger would always be lower than the driver side. So I replaced them with Rear Springs from a 02 Crown Victoria P71 with 165k to later find out the Passenger side was still sagging. Thinking I had bought bad springs I went back and exchanged them for those of a 03 Crown Victoria LX with 89k and still the passenger side would be alot lower than the driver side.

I checked all 4 shocks and they all compress just like new there KYB Gr2s. Checked all bushings in the rear and front and they all seem to be good. Now I had to add spring helpers to the passenger rear to even out the height. I know that there must be something wrong but I am out of Ideas.

There is no frame damaged car has not had any wrecks at all nor has it had any rear end work.

Any input would help from you guys.

Other members from another forum have suggested to loosen the rear control arm so the bushings would not be twisted or warp while the car is at curb height.

This car has been real closed to being traded for a 99 Grand Marquis or a 96 Continental both of which needed some work but I have put good money since I still plan on keeping it. I do love this car and have good plans for it in the future but this rear end sag is being a PITA.

Honestly I'm stumped, but you deserve a reply.. Although I don't have a ton of experience with the 90-97 Town Cars, I recently converted my '99 from air to coils, and did not encounter this problem. The kit I purchased was from Moog (this kit, specifically: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COTT1U/ ) and included rubber spacers to set on either end of the springs prior to installation. Getting those spacers (isolators, I suppose) to seat correctly was a bit of a struggle.

Assuming you don't have an extra part in there somewhere, like a left-over clip from the air springs, I'd struggle at the solution as well.

Your comments on the control arms is an interesting one. Since I didn't have access to a spring compressor when I installed mine, I un-bolted most of the rear suspension to get 'em in there. Perhaps I lucked out in this regard.

I appreciate the reply and any info is well taking. I know I have no insulators and well It seems as in I should have bought new springs with insulators instead of junkyard ones. In the very ear future new coils will be in place.
