Hi, All--

A couple of months ago, the New Mustang bug bit me, and I ordered one on June 20th. It appears that it was built last Friday night, and it will probably be at the dealership in another couple of weeks.

SO--I need to sell off all my other cars now.

I have two Mark VIII's, one in pretty good shape and one that is well worn; I'll list the good one here, and the other one in another thread:

My daily drivers is the '97 Cordovan Base Edition, 122,000 miles, light gray leather interior, with all options except moonroof, heated seats, CD-Changer and phone.

The not-so-good:
*The previous owner told me that his "wife was not a very good driver" when I asked him about the blemishes on the front & rear bumper, and the dented up right rocker. The blemishes are easy to see, but the dented rocker isn't so obvious.

*The Blend Door actuator needs to be replaced (I've already purchased the new one, and it comes with the car)

*The windshield washer silver button at the end of the Turn Signal Switch popped off and disappeared. You could probably find one off of an old one and pop it and the spring into place.

*The right windshield pillar interior trim panel disintegrated (a passenger grabbed it, and it just broke into pieces), so it will need to be replaced.

The GOOD:
*I've installed Cobra Rotors and calipers on the front, Mustang rotors and Cobra calipers in the rear, and Ford Racing M-1007-F178 Cobra 17"X8" wheels with Goodyear Eagle LS 225-55R17 tires all around (same height as the original 16" tires, so no problems with VSS or Odometer) and a set of Ford Racing locking lugnuts to finish it out.

There is about 10,000 miles on this combo, and not a bit of shudder from the rotors! One of the tires was replaced via "road hazard" recently due to a nail, and has less than 2000 miles on it.

*I've installed a custom exhaust system, consisting of a custom-made 2-1/2" "Y" pipe (stock psuedo-dual exhaust is 2-1/4") that comes from the stock exhaust manifolds, with a high-flow CarSound 2-1/2" I/O catalytic converter on the right side (replacing the original that was there), going to a DynoMAX 17748 Super Turbo (2-1/2" center inlet, 2-1/2" offset outlet, 4"X9" Oval, 20" body length), and then to a DynoMAX T-Bird 2-1/2" T-Bird "Cat-Back" intermediate pipe, that splits into two 2-1/4" pipes going into a pair of DynoMAX 17747 rear mufflers (2-1/4" center inlet, 2-/14" offset outlet, 4"X9" Oval, 20" body length). I have Ractive Black Chrome oval tips finishing off the exhaust system, and they look like they were MADE for this car! Also, regarding the system, if you look at the specifications for these mufflers on the DynoMAX site, you will see that they flow WELL more than enough for a stock 4.6L 4V, and with this particular combination, would probably support another 100HP or so (can you say "Nitrous"?).

The sound is relatively quiet with no drone whatsoever, but has a deeper tone that really "sings" when you get in the upper RPM ranges, and the best part is it isn't loud enough to draw the undesired attention of the local men in blue when you jump on it!

With this system, the car also has more low-end "punch" than the previous 2-1/2" duals I had installed, and I haven't noticed any adverse top end dropoffs.

*The airbags all the way around are EXCELLENT! I had some problems with the air suspension compressor, and was able to run for WEEKS with the switch turned off!

*I just replaced the air suspension compressor in April with a rebuilt one from Eddie at American Air Suspension, and it works GREAT! Thanks Eddie!

*The neon tail light works PERFECTLY--no need to go scrounging around to replace this high-dollar item!

*The car starts and runs perfectly, with no abnormal engine noises, and the transmission shifts fine as well. Don't know if anybody did the "J-Mod on it or not, but I've had no problems whatsoever with it since I've owned it.

*The interior is also in EXCELLENT condition! I have seen cars with 60,000 fewer miles that are not in as nice of shape as this one!

To this point, I have around $10,000 invested in the car, and am looking to sell it for $6500 OBO. While I understand that one could purchase another one similar to it for a little less, it wouldn't have the upgraded Cobra brakes or cusomized exhaust system, which cost around $2500 alone!
I guarantee you won't be able to buy one in this kind of shape for $4000 and add those parts!

I wil try to get pictures of it sometime tomorrow or Saturday, and post them or once I get them taken, I can send them to anyone interested.

Please either respond to this thread, or send me a PM with any questions.

Thanks!

Well, I have finally gotten photos of the car, and I've posted it the auction site, in case anyone would like to view them.

I don't know if it's OK to post a link to the auction here or not, so instead of doing that, I'll offer the link to anyone who sends me an e-mail or a PM--or you can just search for a Cordovan Mark VIII Base Model.
