A nice Dam Photo

Nice drone footage!

I sure hope that doesn't get any worse and the water levels drop so they can fix it. I'm glad they evacuated.

Those drone shots look a lot like my original dam photo.

On that video, I recognized the props in the top corners of the screen occasionally, mine does that too, in the wind or hard cornering. The speed of the gimbal is the same too. I think that is the same drone that I have.

It's great to have these drone videos, I hope it can help the engineers see the problem, these can be great tools.

tallest DAM in North America, maintained by a useless state government that controls water like a 4th grader controls his Halloween candy supply...dealing with a drought every decade or so, yet the water storage remains un-evolved, and now when their is rain, the DAM spillway gets DAMaged when the ground beneath it erodes.
But lets spend trillions of dollars on a useless train that runs through the drought-stricken landscape and leave our fatigued water-storage infrastructure alone and *hope* it still works if we get any rain.

mark my words...when the record amount of snow the Sierras got this year melts, there will be a DAM mess to deal with...yet not one word to the public about their plans...

If there's an earthquake anywhere near Oroville in the next 3 months, the down-stream cities will be in big trouble. Good new is, Sacramento, the capitol is downstream...maybe they'll get a first-hand experience of what can happen when you put your money in the wrong development.

I found this one a few days ago showing the DAM lack of water a few years ago.

Maybe we should dump a bunch of ping pong balls in there to prevent evaporation.

Now /that/ is a well build dam, clearly not at risk of failure..

MI knows how to get it done..

Here's another dam photo.

It's the same Croton dam as above, this is a summer shot with 2 spillway gates open. The gates have been open all summer. at spring, they were all open.
