BLIZZAK's

DBlizzak's.jpgrove the wife to work this morning, and left the 4X4 at home. Yesterday we got about 1 ft of snow, and I wanted to test the new tires that I put on the 95. I was amazed. It handled almost as well as my 4X4. These tires did everything they claimed. If you drive in the snow, I would recommend these tires. Their quiet on dry pavement also.

My wife's old '96 Mustang 5 speed on Michelin Alpin performance snow tires was nothing short of amazing! The Blizzaks will be even better since non studable snows will have the edge on performance snows. I prefer the performance snows since they don't wear as fast and have better performance on dry pavement but you'll pay a premium for them.

I used to run a set of General Altimax Arctic snows on my old Town Car.. That thing was unstoppable configured as such. I'm definitely a believe in dedicated snows..

Also - Thanks for buying Andersen windows. Those guys are just down the road from me.. :)

I did a lot of research on snow tires. They are made a lot differently than they use to. The rubber has silica (sand) in it, and molecules. 2 different wear bars. one for when there are no more molecules, and one for the tread wear. Of course they suggest you put on 4, which I did. The front heavy MK VIII goes around corners much better, without sliding out. Only $111 each. Best investment I've made in upgrades, for my cars.

I want a set of Blizzaks for the Navigator. But I'm not sure how to deal with the TPMS and winter wheels. I just had new tires put on it last spring and decided to wait this winter through.

I had Blizzaks on the old Navi' and it was a veritable tank in the snow and on the ice.

I was wondering the same thing. I think my solution would be to simply ignore the warning light.. :D

I've heard about tossing four sensors into a sealed PVC tube, pumping it up to 32psi and throwing it in the back, too.. I've always wanted to try that.

Strangely, this has never been a problem I've had to deal with myself.....

Oddly enough, I've grown accustomed to the relying upon the TPMS as you may remember from our Atlanta outing. ;)

I'll simply have to research if there is a work-around for next winter. I would prefer to have a spare set of aftermarket wheels versus swapping tires twice a year. But Tire Rack was pretty adamant you had to have OEM sensors installed with any new tire/wheel package you would purchase from them. The sensors, bands and cradles for all 4 wheels up the ante for new wheels by $328! Then you have the trigger tool which is required for the vehicle to "recognize" the new sensors which adds another $45. Suddenly those winter wheels start to get pretty pricey.

can you program 8 wheels?
for some reason, i believe the Taurus will hold 8 wheels in memory for this exact purpose.
