Dashed out odometer and ABS light on after wreck.

Ok, long story short, my '97 Base took a header into a guardrail (on the drivers side nose) at 35mph roughly 3 years ago. car has been down from them on, while I searched for replacement panels.

My question/question: After the accident, my ABS light stays on and my odometer is dashed out (plus the speedo does not move).
1)Does this mean I killed the ABS control module and because of that these systems don't function?

2)Do I have multiple, unrelated system failures if they are not all related?

3)Do any of you guys have any idea in which direction to send me for troubleshooting?

4)If it is an ABS control causing all of this mess, does it have to be 1997-specific or can I use any ABS control module bolted to my ABS distribution block?

I remember that thread! Bill gets the "Heroic splicing award" for that one, for sure.

It sounds like you may soon be in the running as well....

Bill, if we weren't both dudes I would love you! That is what I was figuring (as I didn't mention the Distance Data Error) due to everything failing at once and being tied to the ABS. Time to cry as now I need to find a '97 unit (found a few on car-part, will contact the yards to see about shipping).

So I couldn't pull a '98 unit and bolt it to the '97 ABS body, huh? :-(

Yes, they changed these modules quite often in the Mark VIII, the connectors at least, are different. I know this because at the time, I could have bought a spare 97 part but it was different.

I'm not suggesting that yours is melted like mine, but it could just be fried inside and an easier swap.

Mine took a nasty hit, so I would say its internal eggs are scrambled. If just the plug is different, maybe I can de-pin/re-pin a '98 module to work (a friend has a parts-car '98 sitting and he said I could have the module).
