Dyno Tune in Kansas City

In between thunderstorms and tornados and 70mph gusts, there were a few hours of nice weather on Saturday, and I got tuned.

I had the same tuner do me last April, my only relevant mods at that time was the LMS MAF kit (featuring K&L MAF, and K&N conical filter). he was able to take the car from a base of 223.8hp/246.9ftlbs to 229.0/251.2; Which was all nice and good, and it was about 150% humidity that day, so I figured it probably ran slightly higher than that on more 'normal' days.

Since then, I've added a true-dual exhaust with hi-flow mufflers, and a 4:10 posi, and found and fixed some air intake leakage, and generally fixed a bunch of little stuff like that. So, time to tune again :)

So, a first pull with chip removed. I don't have a record of that run on my print out (grrr) but it maxed out about 235hp.

Long story short, a few pulls and some tweaked tables later...

248.5 hp and 259.7 ft-lbs

Which is very nice :D

So, if you take into account a 20% drivetrain loss, thats 310 flywheel! Not that that really matters, but dang that sounds like a lot LOL It seems most people (I mean, most ricers) like to quote flywheel so I guess I need to know that number ;)

I will try to get my dyno sheet scanned today. one thing I find intersting about it, the hp climbs steady until about 5300, then it is just pretty flat until 6200, where it starts to dip a little. That's nice. The torque is very steady at 249ft-lbs, climbing slowly from 3250 rpms(IMRC) to a peak of 259/7f-l at 4400. It drops a little quicker that the hp curve but holds at over 250 from 3500 rpms all the way through 5000.

I also have a picture of a beautiful engine from a 199? mustang, featuring a Shaker hood scoop, supercharger, and nitrous. I had to leave before they were done but I'm pertty sure he hit 500. I should have scans and pics up soon.

So, if anyone asks, "is a tune worth it" my answer is absolutley YES.

Edit - too late to edit - I looked at the wrong sheet, HP was 247.7, not 248.5

Scanner at work is down, need to find another...

what time did they tune you at? I was there working with them until about 4:30pm, but it was a 3 hour drive home and I had been up since 2am.
