I just joined this morning as I was thinking of getting a Mark VIII. By this afternoon, I owned one! I've been looking at one for the last week and doing a LOT of research and couldn't stop myself. It's a '98 Black with ivory interior. Has 70K miles and one owner. Found it at local Ford dealer where it was traded in. It went through service this afternoon and got a ball joint replaced and a small gas line leak fixed. It has 3 little dings in door along the raised body line that are going to be fixed early next week. The paint and interior are in really good shape. Since it was a local car, I am assuming it was taken care of well. Thinking of turning it into a pirate ship. Has to be a jolly roger since it originally came from a dealer in Rogers, Ar. Going to do all the paperwork tomorrow and can't wait to get it home. :big-grin:

Thanks all for welcome

hello back from Jeff City.
Good to know there are folks to interact with about this car, especially in midwest, as that's probably where I'll start my travels. Looking forward to attending some small events and meeting you. Won't have any pics of car until after Tues. as that's when it comes home. Could pick it up today but have to get it back to shop on Mon. so figured I could wait. Cheryl

Welcome, Cheryl!

It sounds like you've found yourself a very well kept example of these cars. The ball joints are a fairly common problem. I am curious about the fuel leak though. The ones I've seen are either rust related, (unlikely in your case, I'd guess,) or lines that have been crushed when the car was put on a lift incorrectly.. I hope it was minor, whatever it was.

I don't know if I've ever seen a black car with Ivory interior. I think those must be relatively rare. I'm sure others will chime in if I'm wrong.. :D

Yeah it's rare alright, I'm really eager to see the pics and maybe a VIN code to see the original paint color. Great find! Welcome aboard.

I live in Springfield, MO, and not to brag but I have a fairly complete working knowledge of Mark VIIIs... well the first gens anyway.

If you ever need any help with anything I am basically just down the road.

Mike, one of the service guys was misinformed. It was an air (vacuum) leak not a gas leak (thank heavens). While I'm at it, I'll post the vin # as car definitely does not appear to have been repainted. I have the original window sticker that says 'Midnight black w/clear coat and ivory leather seats' # 1LNFM91VXWY699849

Welcome to boards Cheryl! (waiting patiently for pictures :))
Glad you were Patiently waiting!!! Finally got 3 posted in album. That's as far (smart) as I got. One interior shot was taken with the window up (don't ask) and the other was taken with a sunshield in windshield so interior looks really white....glad it's not that white or it would never be clean looking.
