Any one else have good success against these? It was neck and neck untill I hit third. Then I started pulling on him pretty good.

We were about as even as we could be.Same amount of gas,and both of us had just done a tune up.

What were you driving? I figure it's a mark, but i didn't know you had another one. I thought the one you're tearing down to put the turbo in was your only one?

Congrats on the kill!

ive had mixed results against these. on the highway i was inching away from one (93-96) and from a stop i got stomped but didnt make it out of 1st (97-current). both of these were before my dyno tune.

my buddy has an sts 97,i'm in my coupe d'ville,93,were at the go-kart track playing demolition derby.when we leave we stop at a red light, turns green we launch,ok i white smoke he launches,i cath up to my surprise and actually start to pass him,i didn't smoke him but he never caught back up.my coupe has a 4.9,crap to some gold to others.i also have a 92 eldorado,1st.yr. of the new body, when i bought my mark 8 (93)me and my brother ran them.the eldo killed on 0-40{same 4.9 engine) after that,it was rear view scenery in the lincoln.the moral of this is northstars kick ass but not as much as you would think.

The thing the STS and ETC have on us is gears. They have 3.71 as opposed to our 3.27 or 3.08 gears. Our transmission gears are 2.84, 1.55, 1.00 and 0.70, and the Caddy's tranny gears are almost identical, so you can see why they should be able to pull on us out of the hole.

Crash hit it on the head. Its all gears in the Caddy. you got to run 'em on the highway. 60 and above.

RE: Conti

I think the "secret" to it is the much smoother transmission shifts as well as not "hunting" for what gear it wants to be in.

RE: Conti

Also, doesn't the SOHC in the Towncar have a little more low torque than the DOHC in our Mark's, or am I just mis-informed?
