Looking for a set of 17X9 and 17X10" Chrome Cobra 5 stars

Hello. Finally ready to by my rims for the black Mark 8. Hadmind set on the old school Chrome 5 star Cobra R’s, to match up with the hood, front bumper foglights, and FR500 steering wheel theme going on. My cobra mark, lol.
Question here is, do I go for the hub conversion now and getlower priced Real Mustang Cobra R’s at 5X4.5? Or get a set of Cobra R imitationChrome ones made for the mark VIII at 5X4 ¼” spacing.
Both would be 17X9s and 10” rim for the rear two tires.
18s are too big I’m thinking for my liking. I wanted moreside wall tire protection and comfort highwayride sitting on the rim. (worried about city pot holes and bridges I accidentlydon’t slow down for or don’t see the potholes ect, not paying attention. )
So…..I guess im looking at a total cost break down of buyingall the front and rear hub conversion parts and converting over to real Mustanghubs. I’m assuming I’ll be moving up to a 32 spline axle as well from the 28spline factory one too?
I definitely DON’T want the 7” inch knock offs ive seenaround ebay and other websites that fit perfectly. Way too skinny. Also don’t want the 8.5s iveseen advertised as well.
I need something bigger. Currently I’m running 245/50-16sBridgestone Potenzas on the stock snowflake rims. Love the tires, but there waytoo wide for the factory rims and you can tell driving it hard.
Need real 17X9 rims up front and 17X10s in the rear. I’m worried about the big ADDCO sway bars frontand rear for the offset I custom order. So if its cheaper to just custom order a new setof 17X9s in the stock bolt pattern I think I will go that route and get 4 samesize tires all around for it. Can 40’s be ran out in the rear with noissues? I’m not air ride anymore. I’m all spring conversion ride now, so carwon’t be lowering at all.
Any deals you guys find slip me a link for 5 chrome 5 starCobra Rs with the fat chrome edge lips is what im after. Also the widest tires Ican stuff under the rear without hitting the Addco aftermarket swaybars.
I’m doing number crunching on the links you guys postedbefore. I like this one best and usingnow.

Jeff, AFAIK there are no 17x10.5 wheel in mark viii bolt pattern. Even the 17x9s that exist usually have issues clearing the front spindle.
This is mainly due to incorrect offset, which is not 36mm, or 6.42" backspace, which is absolute maximum for 17-18" wheels in the front.

I would strongly suggest doing the hub swap. It's not cheap, but it's the right way of doing things IMO. FYI the hub side spline count doesn't change, it remains 28 spline.

Thanks for the info. So, if you could order them in with custom back spacing what would be optimal for a set of 17X9s or a set of 18X9s. (Still running the factory mark VIII brake calipers and rotors but would someday like to upgrade to the twin piston brembo cobra set. (So room would have to be left for them). I'm pretty sure a 10 incher could fit in rear with correct offset, but yeah that rear swaybar is like perfectly right in the way. We could make custom brackets to relocate it back about 4", but that would also move the rear back same as well.

I need to buy new tires now as the 245 50 16s are pretty old now, and don't want to get tires till the 18s are sitting in the garage. Whats the best set out there now that has longest warranty on chrome ect delaminating and being pitt free? Or I could just get them in aluminum and keep a polish on them I suppose.

Can you link me to a post maybe of old where someone has posted and written up the part numbers in a neat list for the full conversion? Im guessing here but Ill start it with following, then we can copy and paste it into its own thread labeled Cobra front and rear wheel conversion parts list.

1. Front Hubs part # and estimated cost
2. Read spindle part # and estimated cost
3. Front caliper hardware ectera part numbers
4. Stock calipers grinded tabs or modded offset brackets part numbers. What must be done for clearance.
5. Braided lines special lengths if needed and where to get them with part numbers.
5. Optional twin piston setups out there in the market for purchase that would work.
6. Can you reuse the stock Mark VIII discs? Im not sure why anyone would since the 13"s are available and bigger for the twin piston calipers ect.

I'm guessing all that parts would be over the 1400.00 cost for new rims and tires. But who knows.

I'm thinking a lot easier and cheaper to just buy a set of custom 18X9 cobra chrome rims and slap some new 18" tires on it for cruising. lol
