My car used to belong to Scott Miller. He performed NUMEROUS performance upgrades, had it repainted and installed HID's years ago....several years later he sold it to my brother-in-law Tommy, who bought his for his (at the time) wife.
They divorced a while later and I bought it from her. I used 1/2" black pinstripe tape to black-out the side molding chrome and rear bumper chrome strips(Scott had removed the emblems and the front bumper chrome strip but retained the side and rear bumper trim)
195k miles on it, and it had 18" Bullitts....I didnt care for them...too much wheel for the car.
Serg Pak had a sweet 97 base he just bought. We swapped wheels the day after I bought it...his 97 base just happened to come with MINT Octastars!

So, here's the toy the day I bought it with the Bullitts

Then I brought it home, detailed the crap out of it, got ahold of Serg and met him the next day. I swapped the wheels over and took it home, installed the pinstripe tape and VOILA! Here is the NEW Black ice!

Yea, they just looked too big on the Gen 1...especially 18's. But they actually look SWEET on Serg's Gen 2...especially after sensor-lowering it for him.

I like the Octastars as I think they are a little rarer on our cars. I feel the Bullets are pretty common wheels, and not as distinctive for our cars.

I can't understand going to different wheels. Lincoln made Octastars, 10 spoke chrome, 20 spoke chrome, that all look great on MK VIII's. I guess people spend lots of money just to make their car look different.

DING DING DING!...

Many folks will change the wheels when going for performance upgrades (larger footprint) and the previous owner of this car used it for track days with SCCA so his wheel upgrade added a lot of handling upgrades and made room for bigger brakes. Before selling it off, he stripped many of the upgrades (brakes, chassis bracing) and got it as close to stock as he could but left the Bullitts on there...fine by me...because I was able to trade them for the exact wheels I wanted! Had the previous owner kept the Bullitts and put the painted 10 spokes on, I would have had to buy wheels because I am not a fan of the paitned 10-spokes for MY car.

Looks great Craig!

I'm also a big fan of the stock wheels. My favorites that I use, are the Octastars, chrome 10 and the chrome 20 spokes. I'm not a fan of the painted 10 or 20 spokes, or the aluminum clear coated snowflakes. The rare chrome snowflakes would look cool, but I think they would be a pain to wax. :D

Lost in Translation
Personally I believe the ride height and the sidewall size on the Bullitt set-up are what make it look off with this car. I have seen others rolling the Bullitts and look good doing so.

The car looks GOOD with the blacked out trim and the shining Octastars. They compliment the clean lines of the car.
