You should sign up for Summer Blast now, too. It's right in your neck of the woods. You and Joe can go heads up.

Ok, I still dont get why people still drive VWs. I may be holding on to the past to much but you all know they were created by Nazis right? Ferdinand Porsche was tried for war crimes and all that??? Not that Mr. Ford was a big fan of Jewish folk but he was far from the "Fuhrer". All the same i think they are owed by Audi now; Ford, GM and I even think Toyota had a chance to buy the VW name. anywho just my .02, :)

VW is the 2nd largest auto group in the world. they are bigger than GM. they have 99% ownership of audi, and wholly own many others. including bentley and bugatti.
they were backed by the government in power at the time.
it's not much different than the GM bailout.

I though Audi was the parent company? ill google it when i have nothing else to do, lol.

What I do know is that Ferdinand Porsche is not someone I plan on connecting my name with by buying anything he has made, VW, Porsche, Mercedes...

With "LOD" Since 1997
Henry Ford got an award from the Fuhrer,
In 1938, Ford received an award from the Nazi regime called the "Grand Cross of the German Eagle.

But that was a long time ago, so who cares. That is like saying you wound not want a Ferrari because the Romans had salves. And do you own anything that was made in Japan?

From the point of view of anti-Semitism, Hitler could look at Ford as somebody who was -- let's call him an age-mate. They were both in the 1920s beginning to write and disseminate information about what they both considered to be this great powerful threat, "the Jew."

And Hitler was very much inspired by Ford's writing. And the idea that this could happen in the United States, I think, was very important to Hitler as well, because as people in the United States were speaking out against Nazism and were using a kind of rhetoric, "Well, it could never happen here," and "We are the bastions of democracy," I think Hitler would have derived a degree of satisfaction to be able to point to Ford as, in a way, just as good an anti-Semite as he was.

I bought that VW because of the the claim of being a "CLEAN BURN" diesel AND the boasted fuel mileage.... once the truth came out about the cheat software in the PCM I KNEW I wasn't keeping the car. During the first few years I was getting over 45MPG (sometimes 50 on a trip). Once the fit starting into the fan and they "updated" the tune to try to correct the lie, my mileage dropped to well below 40MPG and mostly 35 and worse! That was the straw that broke it. As soon as the judge says VW has to buy it back I jumped on it. At least, I really didn't lose anything (yet) over this deal. Only problem is my back account had to be repaid whenever I get a check from VW. I have the car parked alongside the house and covered. It ended up costing me about $5000. to drive that car for 4 1/2 years. So long as VW goes by the formula and amount they have sent to me. As long as I don't go over 30,000 miles, I'm OK. It's only at 26,500 now.... I don't trust VW now at all.... hopefully the court will keep them to their word now.

The important thing is that you're back to Lincoln.

I like the fact that Henry M. Leland was the founder of Lincoln and Cadillac, both great American cars.:)
