my car still keeps shutting off while driving

Get rid of the Haynes book and go to the auction site and order a DVD Ford Disk for your car. If you need more help, you need to indicate what you have done to the car.

I had a car that would do that every time we hit a bump, like pulling into a driveway. Ended up being some plates shorting out in the battery. A new battery took care of our problem.

Can you tell us a bit more about the scenarios? Does the engine stop, but other electrical stuff continue to operate? (fans, lights, radio..) is it weather dependent in any way? Is it difficult to restart after it dies?

I do like MindyMark's battery idea. I'd also take a good look at the cables for the battery. If you are in an area where rust/corrosion is common, it is quite possible that the cables themselves are bad. We just replaced the positive terminal on Eric's Town Car for that exact reason. Just a little tug on the cable pulled it right out of the lug. We replaced the end, and the car has been good ever since.

My green one did that twice on the way to work this morning. It just shut off at 2 different stop lights. Didn't stumble our anything beforehand. Started right up like nothing happened. I'll check the battery connectios tonight.

...Until someone comes to look at it.

Is this an engine problem or a power problem? Agreed with the e-bidding site, get a dealer manual, gen ones are cheap and are more effective then that pile of napkins called a Hanes Manual.

That sounds like the typical Idle Air Control (IAC) problem. Some people just clean it up, but I've never had much luck going that route. Typical replacement costs are about $50 ish bucks + or - depending on what brand of IAC you buy.
