Need help with exhaust!

New owner of 1995 mark viii lsc. Very interested in doing exhaust. I understand that mufflers and sound is all personal preference, but I'm trying to figure out what mufflers and X crossover work the best for installation and will work not the mark viii. Im trying to spend least as possible but still want good quality. I was thinking either dynomax race bullets or maybe magnaflow. Also I would like to remove the 3rd cat with x, (is the resonator the same as the 3rd cat?) would it be cheaper to go to a local exhaust shop for them to make me an X shape exhaust? Or to buy something online.

Also is removing the 3rd cat/resonator risky? Will it screw with my computer? I would love any input and knowledge.

Have no fear removing the resonator and replacing it with a MagnaFlow X-pipe. Many, including me think the MagnaFlow mufflers sound best.

An off the shelf X is probably cheaper. You can buy mandrel bent kits from mandrelexhaustsystems.com that will include an X. Then buy what ever mufflers and tips you want. You might save a little having a shop bend the pipes, but they will not be mandrel bends. Plus, the quality will depend on how good the installer is at bending pipe. Many shops are not as good as they think they are.

^ agree. With an Lsc and the true dual pipes it does sounds nice. You can put race bullets on later if it's a little too loud for you

here's a link to your question about saws

for what it's worth, I just bought a 98 LSC with no mufflers but with stock pipes and tips.

It sounds great in the car, but it's pretty obnoxious outside, unless you like to advertise every precise throttle movement you make to all who are within 500 feet.

I will be putting bullets on soon, as I have had them on 2 previous Marks and think they are perfect.

(and cheap)

darned exhaust shops are getting so expensive. I just called around to get a price for a set of bullets installed.
A)no one stocks them anymore
B) they all sell the Magnaflow Magnapipe bullet and want $300 installed.

wow...I remember it was about $70 a muffler, and $60 labor total...$100 more than 5 years ago....
