Neon tail light.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the neon tail light housing apart? I've tried and already broken one. I got another from a salvage yard, but I want to replace the neon bulb with LEDs. I don't want to break the replacement one. Any help would be appreciated.

Same process as separating headlight housings. The adheasive glue needs to be heated up before it can be pryed apart

I dont remember if it was a onlytony or a chrisfix idea here but basically you have a cardboard box to fit it in, line the walls of the box with aluminum foil and have a little hole to put a hairdryer or heatgun and thermometer in it, this is to get it evenly warm and help prevent the plastic from warping

some people have used their oven. some have successfully used heat guns but I would imagine there is a big warpage risk.

I've never taken apart a neon, but a heat gun will be my choice. I'd start at one end, and get a small part loose, and put some wedges in so it doesn't re-glue itself. Then do the same at the other end, and work your way all around it, so as not to get it real hot in the same place. A temp controlled heat gun would be best, since over heating would be an issue. Some of the sealant will most likely stick, and I'd use the same method slow, a little at a time. Warping would be my biggest concern.
