Hello All,
I just picked up a new set of 16" Konig Inception wheels with 5-108.
I plan to use these for my winter tires.

Looks like nice winter wheels... :) I don't think I've seen those on a Mark before. It'll be interesting to see the end result.

Thank you All,

I live in the mountains.
I drive about 30 miles each way to work through a beautiful mountain pass. In winter, this pass has a lot of snow and many wrecks.

I like to use studded snow tires and I put 2 x 50 lb sand bags in the trunk to help with traction.
For the past 20+ years, I have been using my Cougar to make this trip.

Finally, this past April, I wrecked the Cougar when I hydroplaned in a very strong rain storm.

My Mark is a replacement for the Cougar and so far, I love it.

Y.

I did not realize that the rules were so different from place to place.
I grew up just north of you in Manitoba and always had studded snow tires in winter.

I just found a reference that said that Quebec i has mandated snow tires and reduced accidents significantly as a result.

its strange they are not allowed in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin where you would expect to need them most. :eek-large:

Admittedly, our snow clearing crews are probably better than most, but I also know that dedicated snow tires make a night and day difference. I can only imagine how great they'd be if I was allowed to stud them.

Newer snow tires are made with silica, and moleclules in the tread. I put 4 Blizzaks on my 95, and I think it handles better than my 4X4. All 4 snow tires made a big difference.
