Oil Pressure Sending Unit Socket Name & Size?

My car was leaking oil for a couple days so I went in to investigate. PHEW! Looks like the oil filter sending unit is leaking! Given the alternatives I am thrilled.

I would love to know, what size sending unit socket does it take?

Bonus if you can tell me why it is not shaped for a regular wrench or socket.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's this one.

At least, I know I bought that one from Amazon. And I know I only own one. and I know the one I own fits the sensor on the oil filter adapter..

Just don't overtighten it. There will be threads exposed. cranking it in too far will result in a cracked oil filter adapter. I know this from experience. :)

Have you tried a regular socket, I changed mine and I don't remember having a special tool.

I would plan getting 6.25 qts of oil, a good WIX filter, a good sending unit and a new oil filter adapter gasket.

Good time to do all of it in one shot because if you haven't changed the gasket yet, you will.

Yep, a regular 12 point socket will work. A deep-well socket would be preferred or you can do what I did...

Yup, 12 point socket or regular 1 1/16th wrench is the secret. Thanks guys.

I have a preponderance of six point sockets it seems and the box end on my 1 1/16 wrench must be stretched from mistreatment so I was confused.
