I had a couple similar experiences with a 1987 Taurus, back in the day...
Although the switch in my Mark has been trouble free. Up until I finish typing this sentence, anyway.

My 03 Navigator had some green in the fuse panel located on the right side kick panel, causing a couple annoyances. Replaced it and it fixed like 3 different things. (wacky mirror, heated driver seat, cooled pass seat) The door seal was leaking water in and it dripped right on the fuse panel. Did both door seals because there was terrible wind noise on the highway. Apparently common according to the parts guy. Amongst other things. Farewell Navigator....
