I will not be attending Carlisle again this year due to my dad and I are going to be Long Haulers on the 14 HRPT.

If any other members want to caravan to the venues let me know via PM.

So.. pardon my ignorance, but is there a procedure for reserving the rooms? Like does the tour have a "reserve these stops" process? or do you just find any hotel in whatever town the tour stops in?

You find a hotel, that's it. If you can that is, they usually book fairly quick.

Actually, I used the HRPT hotel concierge service for the first time this year.

When you go to the online registration process, you will see a link for the hotels being offered. There were still plenty of rooms available last weekend. It is fairly painless, click the stops you will be attending and a drop down list of options for that night will appear.

In previous years, I just booked rooms individually online. Usually the trick is getting decent rooms reasonably close to the venue(s).

If you are even considering going on the tour, reserve your accommodations while checking any cancellation policy. Most will allow cancellations up to 24 hrs ahead without any fees. At least that way you will have a room.

I live within 3 hours or crown point and 45 min of Bettendorf. I have room for a one or two more if anyone is interested.

One of these years, I'm going to do the HRPT! Won't be this year, since my long car trip has already been taken by the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA. I know....don't talk about "another brand", but this will be my 8th year in a row at the Chrysler Nats. Lots of fun with the "other car club", Chrysler Sebring/200 Convertible Club.

It may take a while to plan, but I'm hoping to make the Ford Nationals in Carlisle sometime in the next 3 years.

The Ford Nationals is the biggest show Carlisle holds on the fairgrounds. You should try to make one sooner than later and see how the Ford Nats has the show field bursting out the seems... This year will be my 14th straight year
