Purchasing new tires and wheels...

So with the truck on the corner to be sold, I plan on investing some of the return into my Mark. I've been thinking of going the easy route and getting some wheels from John or lightly used in the factory pattern. My issue as of late has been traction; I simply cannot keep the thing on the road... more so when it's wet outside.

So the wheel size will probably be 18x9 (most likely). I'm looking for a good sticky tire that can keep the car planted, especially when it's raining. Any suggestions?

Sport, comfort or "all-season"?

I have Goodyear Eagle GT's on my '96 and they are a decent performance tire IMHO. I prefer the Goodyear ComfortTred for the ride on the Town Car. A good all-season tire is the Michelin Pilot, available in an all-season touring tire and also a performance tread.

I have Goodyear Eagle RSA's v rated to 155 mph. I don't know about the wet traction yet but at least in the dry they stick like glue. They must be good because the police use them.

I'm looking for an aggressive tire, not worried about all season (no snow down here). I could care less about ride quality as long as I stick to the road.

The tires I have currently are Fisk brand, a sub-brand of Michelin. They ride really nice, but I can lite them up with the smallest blip of the right pedal.
