So long to my 98 LSC

Today Clif Topper (heybob) is making his way up from the Yosemite area by train and bus to take over the reins of my 98 LSC.
So with the fact that it was sitting for a couple weeks due to the oil filter housing leak(fixed!) and my new car coming home, it was a bit dirty from the recent rains we've had.
Therefore, I spent the afternoon on Christmas Day cleaning her up and getting her ready to meet her new owner. Clif arrives today and I'll pick him up at the bus stop.

To my beloved 98 LSC:

Before you meet Clif, I decided to give you your due honors with a bath and full detail before I send you to your new home. I want you to look your best when you meet your new owner, and when your new town sees you for the first time. I'll miss you Red... take good care of Clif and enjoy your new life in retirement up in The beautiful Coursegold land and maybe you'll get to see Yosemite. Enjoy the ride and thanks for the memories...Love, Dad.

Be tough parting with that car! It isn't my ideal color exterior or interior, but it is great shape, and I could learn to like the colors (living where I do I tend to gravitate towards light colors). Nice stance! Congrats to the new owner!

I am sure he will. He loves his Mark VIII's and made a huge commitment jumping on a one-way train from 5 hours away to buy it. The price was right, and he left smiling. I just hope the ole girl doesn't do anything stupid before she gets home to her retirement community and garage!

Such a beautiful car. I know it will be missed but there comes a time when the kids have to move on. You've sent it on it's way cleaned and ready to face new adventures.

I got word at 8:00pm Monday night that he made the 5+ hour journey home safe and enjoyed the ride. That was a relief. I know the car is a good car, but then again...it's a car, and they love to throw surprises at you.
I'm patiently awaiting a few photos of the car in its new home.
another chapter has closed. I am also glad the car was chosen for the 2017 calendar so that I may look at September with pride.

Got a pic posted on the *other* DOT.ORG of my old car sitting at its new home next to its stable-mate.
I am happy it went to a good home. Retiree, living in beautiful gold country, with leasure-drives rather than tough commutes.

It does look pretty comfortable in that shot.

Must be a quiet road. It can park wherever it wants..

isn't it funny how different cameras make cars a different color?
My iPhone7 camera made my car have a dark Toreador, almost burgundy (not cordovan) red
and the shot from Clif (new owner) it looks just red.

strange, aint it?

Gotta love Toreador red.

I really need to go troll this guy! He lives about an hour from me. It's my duty to know every Mark VIII owner within a 500 mile radius. Hahaha!!

Glad you found a great new owner, Craig!

Not only the camera but the lighting. Yours on a cloudy day, the other on a sunny day, different times of day, etc...
