Would a 2.5 pipe be able to use the stock tips?

I know the factory pipe is 2.25, I'm just wondering if anyone has managed to cut the factory pipe out of the 2nd gen tips?

I think the factory pipes are 2in. You could use a reducer or possibly enlargen the stock hole on the tip.

You doing the exhaust on the grey car? Any decent exhaust shop will be able to modify the stock tips to fit new exhaust.

Approx ... 2" OD // 1.75" ID

IMO exhaust gasses are much colder by the time they reach the tips, that running 2" from the muffler to the tip won't have any effect on your car's performance.

The muffs I'm looking at are 2.5 in and out. Is that is big step to jump between?

Not sure there is much benefit in 2 1/2" vs 2" pipe with using the stock headers.

2 to 2.5 is a big enough step that it can't be welded directly. They make reducers that couple different sized pipes.

If you look close enough to Mike's setup his shop removed the back of the stock tip instead of just making the hole bigger.

No shortcuts here. Bryan had some hours into these tips getting them right. He said they were a real PITA to get that 2.5" pipe to fit in there and not loose the shape of the tip.

You paid them ... of course they complained it was a lot of work. LOL.

It looks like they cut it out, filed the hole into an oval, and squished the 2.5" pipe to fit (which is the only way really as the tip is 2" tall inside.

lol yep, He was well compensated for his pain and suffering making those tips look like stock OEM tips. He did an excellent job

I was looking closer at the tips yesterday. I wonder what it would cost for metal faber to make a custom set to properly fit 2.5" and have the same look as stock? It would obviously be a little larger but I would think it would not be obvious. I would guess there are a dozen ways to go about it.
