To zip tie or not

I have a race against an 04 crown vic soon and dont know if i should zip tie my runners open or take the chance of them not opening by themselves

Ive got a 50/50 chance. It seems to be a fuse that keeps blowing on whether or not they open.
Not sure which would be better for a quarter mile

Pretty sure open would be better since they are only closed below 3000 rpm or so. On a WOT 1/4 mile run you would not be dropping below 4000 rpms after the shift.

if there's a chance you may lose a 1/4 mi race against a crown vic, then either your car is broken, or his aint stock.
crown vic = 16.60's on a good day
Mark VIII = 15.10's on a bad day.

Well last time i raced my car ran 17.2 but i did have a bad cat, low tire pressure and just lack of general maitenence at the time. Not sure about the accuracy of the clocks either since i was pretty close with a tuned 350z.

Dont doubt the p71 either, i ran a 15.4 in a bone stock 03.
