What is this valve called?I believe it is part of the air pump system on my 96 Mark 8.I have to remove it to change the crank dampner and will have to apply some heat to remove the steel pipe on the bottom.I assume it has a diagphram inside it and if the heat ruins it I want to know if I can get a new one.

After further research I believe the valve is called an AIRD valve.Does anyone know if these are available?

It's part of the Secondary Air Injection emissions system which pumps fresh air in the exhaust stream in cold start strategy to more effectively finish combustion of the exhaust gases until the catalytic converters are up to effective temperatures. If you have emissions tests in your area, you will likely need it to pass inspection. If not, it can be removed with minimal consequence.
