What's the best "basic" car cover?

So here's a question. Who has purchased a "cheap" cover for their car, and likes the fit? I'm seeking brand and size, specifically.

I know that the factory cover is arguably the best, but they're tough to find, and presumably expensive.

I'm just looking for something to keep the dust off during winter storage in my garage. It needn't be waterproof, sun-proof, or wind-proof.. I would like it to be affordable, and fit properly. Under $100 is good, Under $50, is better yet. :)

I'm guessing I'm in the minority these days when it comes to uncovered winter storage. What are the rest of you doing?

Thanks, as always.

All the cheap covers I've ever used didn't do much for preventing dust. I'm not sure how the dust permeated through the cover, but trust me it did.

I just got my Lincoln put up for the winter and sprung for a Covercraft Dustop. It is hands down the nicest cover I've seen in person. It's designed for indoor use only. The custom fit is amazing and it gives you the best dust protection possible as well as top ratings in almost every other aspect of an indoor car cover.

They're not easy on the wallet by any means, but are well worth the money. Autogeek is the cheapest to purchase through and if you're lucky you can catch them with free shipping or get a coupon for free shipping through one of those online coupon sites.

The latest cover I purchased was a CoverCraft Dustop as well. I have another supposedly dust proof cover (I forget what brand) and a cheap cotton blend cover that reminds you of a bed sheet. For the most part I keep the cars covered in the garage. If they're not in the garage for some reason, I don't even bother.

The cheaper ones are better than nothing.

So what I'm hearing here, is that I really need to suck it up and buy the good one.... :D

I would.

I just know I still had dust issues with the cheaper covers, and if I remember correctly Driller had commented in another thread that the dust was still permeating through his economical car cover.

Whatever route you go, the most important thing is to make sure the car is clean and no dust on the paint before putting any cover on.

I just use the cheap covers from Menards, but I do put several bed sheets under the cover, and moving blankets on top for added coverage.
