does anyone know if a P245/50/16" will fit on a stock 98 Mark 8 rim?? Some one has a pair of new,and I was wondering if they would look good on the rear with the stock size[225/60/16] on the front.
Thanks,
Lee

yes they will fit. they will look fine other than there being a bigger gap between the tire and the wheel well since a 245/50/16 is shorter than the stock 225/60/16.

It's less that 1 inch difference between the 245/50 and the 225/60. I run 245/50/16's on mine and I get compliments on how much better and more aggressive they make the car look. Guess it's all how ya see it.

I'm thinking of going with that tire size as well since my upgrade to 18" rims will have to wait for a long while.

I wanted to get 245/50s for my stock 16s but i asked about it on here and LVC and some people say there will be a bigger gap between the tire and the wheel well, i guess it really doesn't matter how it looks if your going for better handling and performance.

Behold: 245/50R16, all the way around. The only traction control issues I have experienced are the direct result of a heavy right foot on the accelerator. :D

full disclosure: My car still has the air suspension, but it has been modified with a device called an "asham8" that allows me to adjust the height. the car has been lowered a bit to compensate for the gap folks are referring to.

right but that's all four corners the OP is talking about putting 245/50/16 on the back of his 1998 with stock 225/60/16 in the front. The back tires would be shorter than the front. That might cause traction control issues.
btw that car looks awesome... like mine only nice:D

Do you think 215/60/16 on the front and 255/50/16 on the rear will still upset the traction control? I realize with that combo the rear is still a little smaller, but has anybody tried that combo?

**[EDIT]** I think I remember reading that KStromberg uses that tire size combo at the track, just wondering if anybody runs these sizes on the street?**[/Edit]**

I run 245/50/16's on the rear and 225/55/16's on the front of mine. I didn't want to go with 245's in the front because I mostly bought my tires for handling purposes. The wider front tire can have a scrub effect, where instead of turning and biting the tire actually "pushes" through the corner. I didn't want the 215's because, well that'd hurt the turn in of the car as well. Plus the 225/55 is closer to the same size than the 215/60. The 245/50 would be 25.65 inches, the 225/55 is 25.74 and the 215/60 is 26.16

Yes as a matter of fact I have. :D That is my current setup. I run 215-60-16s on the front with aluminum minispares and 255-50-16 Mickey Thompson E/T streets on the back. Both tires are VERY close to stock height, so you will have no issues. As a matter of fact, I'm even thinking about going to a 205 tire up front when these Firestones wear out. The tires up front now are speed rated "S". I'd like to get a more rigid tire up front, and you generally get that with a higher speed rating. Plus, I won't have to deal with the liability issues with the tire shops wanting to mount them on a car that should have at least an "H" rating. I had a buddy that works at a tires shop mount these. Other tire shops wouldn't touch it. I'm going to do it right next time and get a proper speed rating on the front tires.
