Las Vegas Meet sounds good to me. Yes, I am crazy enough to drive down there. We might have to do an engine swap while there, but like that's tough. Either spring or fall, so October would work out. Who's IN ???

We have come to know Carlisle as an annual event and regardless of location it will probably continue to draw members from afar. Since it has its' own following(including a forum BTW), let's concentrate on the others.

While I'm still awaiting membership data, it's obvious the mid-west is where the action is. ;) Chicago, St. Louis, Cinci and Port Clinton have been prior hosts to meets in the past. There is no reason they all can't be done this year as well. Chapter meets are an important venue, so let's not forget to participate on a chapter level. I believe the NE and FL chapters had meets as well last year.

The Power Tour concept is simply phenomenal(IMHO). I just want to say, even if it takes a year or more to plan, we need to see this happen in some variation or another. It's obvious to entail a lot of work as well as member participation, but the impact would be enormous.

All any of these potential meets need is a enthusiastic member to spearhead the effort. Look at Cinci last year as a perfect example. It actually started as a suggested meet in another location and snowballed into one of the bigger events of the year. I personally hope to see the "LOD Summer Blast" return as an annual event of some sort. So grab those calendars and start planning!

Heck, what about a WV meet(me and Kenny)? LOL!

I think putting dates with the events will help.

WFC is mid-May, but I don't see the exact dates posted yet.

Chicago meet is typically held in August, but that can be flexible.

When we'd head to Port Clinton in the past, it was end of September, again that's flexible, but I do believe off-season may be better.

Las Vegas - not summer :). Looks like October has been suggested.

I'm not sure when SSHS is, but isn't it in November?

I can't make it to all the meets, but I'd go to as many as I can, and can help organize some of the midwest events.

The Southern Super Heavy Shootout 5 at Atlanta Dragway is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 5th. I think the tentative date is due to the potential need for volunteer's that will host the event, and maybe sponsorship. The Georgia Super Sport Impala Club (GASSIT) has hosted this event in prior years.

Sign me up to help out if the event is a go. It is a well organized event already, complete with web page, hotels, etc., and there really is not much to do except maybe plan a meet and greet on Friday night the day before race day. There is already one of them too, at the nearby hotels.

On a smaller scale, the traveling journal idea is fantastic, and will provide a way for members to meet without all the hoopla. It is a wonderful reason to get in our Marks, and drive to the nearest city, or state line, and meet our fellow members :) . Sign me up for this also.

I still don't see anything on their site. I'll e-mail Sir William and see if he can give me some info.

Let me ask all of you... How many people are planning on attending Carlisle this year?

Now the second part of this question is, would attending Carlisle prevent you from attending a different meet and or from participating in the proposed MK8 tour?

I plan to attend Carlisle and doing so would not preclude me from attending any other meet or even participating in a Mark VIII tour. :)

I'm planning on skipping Carlisle this year and probably doing St. Louis. I wouldn't mind doing Chicago as well.

I do plan on buying a boat this year, so that might mean no out of state meets at all for me. Depends on $$ flow. Cincinatti was fun last year, and ended up being pretty cheap, so if we do that again i'll probably come.

I won't be at Carlisle either.

I will be at St. Louis. And hopefully will be able to attend a whole bunch of meets this year. Depends on work situation/finances.

My calendar is filling up quick. I will have to limit myself to an event close to home. I will be in NC in May, MI and FL in June, MI again in July/August and would try to stop by and say hi at any gatherings in the area, if time permits.

WFC in STL is both racing and a car show. I would have to say currently that the racing is a larger part though. They will run everything from street to pro stock. The car show part is on a parking lot right next to the track. Even the bleachers aren't any closer to the track.

It did get HOT last year and Mark really had the redness to prove it. Its an all Ford show (both racing and show). Lots of Mustangs, new and old, at the show. TCCOA made a fairly big showing as well. Sharon, Mark, and myself were the only Marks to make a showing at the car show part. Steve (Strpro) ran his stock Mark on the track. And one of the judges also had a Mark.

Hopefully this year we will make a much larger showing and represent LOD the correct way. Last year the official hotel for LOD (Mark and Sharon) was the Drury Plaza Hotel (downtown STL). I was able to get them in at a much lower rate than what was standard. I'll be negotiating with tem again coming up this weekend and will hopefully have much better details at that time.
