100 Shot

I got a nitrous setup for my birthday, 100-shot fogger. The people over where i got it said 100 is the most i can run. I have all the parts and im installing it very very soon, and eager to get to the track. I see the people who run NOS on the marks generally run 12's . If im running a 14.8 - 14.9 now, should i break in to the 12's ?

Another thing, the guys that sold me the NOS kit said i dont really need to get a chip for it, though id like too.

Can some of you give me an idea of what i should get? Is it ok running it without an aftermarket chip ?

Wet or Dry? Either way you should have a tune to richen up your a/f. One good lean run and you could screw yourself. A $300-500 chip or chip/dyno tune could be the difference between a blown motor or not. Unless you have a spare motor hanging around and the ability to swap it just go for a dyno tune with the N2O. Get a multi-program chip so you can easily go from your normal driving program to a N2O program.

Ditto, 13s with a 100 shot, probably upper 13s from where you are now.

I highly suggest a dynotune. I've seen quite a few cars slap on a nitrous setup without a tune only to regret it later.

im not trying to tread jack here but im in the process of doing the same thing. im building my nitrous "kit" from bits and pieces that i pick up along the way and i just about have everything i need to do the install. my set up will consist of the deal that raises the fuel pressure and a A/F gauge. how safe should this be as long as i back off as soon as i see lean? how much "lean time" can the motor take before it goes boom? would say 2-3 secs of lean before i could back out hurt it to much?

I went to the track today on motor, since the nos wont be ready until next friday. I have a professional setup with fuel and nos regulators that match up to a chart that i have for markviii's (or 32v 4.6 design) - The math says that from a 14.90 on motor to 100 shot all the way to the end = 13.1396743 .

Tonight on motor I ran 15.0 3 times in a row.
1st pass - 15.094
2nd pass - 15.0456
3rd pass - 15.0254

Cant break a 14 to save my life... -.-

Going to run 1 - 2 passes with the 100 shot , then going to get a chip to get me down in the 12's

Devin runs a 100 shot with 3.73 gears and a traction lock + a few other parts. He runs 13.0's to 13.20's. His fastest pass is 13.08. He also has it set to engage at 2,000 rpms. Spraying at launch turns into a tire roasting competition. This is also on street tires. With drag radials and launching on the spray, he'd be in the 12's. Check this out for his mods. It can be done. www.streettostrip.com/Devin

thats pretty quick and seems to be not to far from stock either. im not trying to brag or put him down here but im suprised at his 60' times that page says 2.08 with 3.73 gears. i have a stock gen 1 with a CAI, shift kit, MSD coils/wires and a 3200 stall on 245/50 street tires and pulled a 2.04 60'. was it like that because he had to "baby" it off the line to keep from spinning or was he spinning?

Okay the car needs better tires !!!

Heres my nitrous time.... Ran a best of 14.11 @ 104mph

As you know i have no mods other than the nos. I have brand new tires on the back and she slides all the way through 1st and still runs 14.11 - New tires? Drag Radials ?

Tire Pressure doesnt seem to matter, air ride adjustments help a little, still to much sliding. I have it all on cam just cant get it to the computer yet.

Wish me luck ! I will be back to post soon, I have alot of fans at the track already, im the guy with the lincoln that smokes everyone else, LOL !

lol i hear ya no one at my track knows my name other than lincoln guy. next time you go out dont hit the juice untill you get about 30-40 feet out. by then you should be moving fast enough that you wont blow the tires away.

Congrats! :D

Tires? Be careful what you wish for. Hitting a 100 shot off the line with traction can definitely find your weak link(s). ;)

I will try that ! It may get me a 13.9 but the car is capable to do mid to low 13's as it sits (if i can get her to grip the whole way). This time i wont make my nos noobie mistakes...

Like remembering to purge the nitrous (I have to do that manually.) and........ turning the bottle on..... ROFL !

Wed. I will get there early and I already bought a full bottle, so she will get a good liquid shot. And ill wait to hit it. I will post a pic soon, but the way I have it set up the nos will only come on if its armed and you floor it to full throttle. Its very neat looking ill have to get the pic on soon. Already have half the money saved for the chip from BOC. How much will that help? Can I download a profile for a Markviii with nos ?

Thats exactly what my uncle said, driller. He's the on with the 7 sec firebird. Maybe i should keep the slidy ones... hehe

I ran a 190 wet system on my 89 5.0 mustang GT. the first thing you need to get on an older car is a new Higher flow FULE PUMP and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and raze the fuel pressure. It will not matter what chip you get if you do not have proper fuel pressure and an older fuel pump will not be adequate. The stock pump and injectors on the car are designed to do an adequate job for the day-to-day driver but not to be modified. I blew up two breather boxes running NOS tell I upgraded the pump and regulator. FULE is everything whenever running NOS.

Yea, speaking of which what does the 2nd gen mark viii fuel pressure at ? Im tapping of the fuel* rail - where the schrader valve is, what is the pressure there... stock.

Tonight on motor I ran 15.0 3 times in a row.
1st pass - 15.094

Screw the 14's.. you need to enter that car as it sits into a bracket race....and start cashing the checks.

Running a string of passes withing .07 of each other makes for a very consistant car that could easily be "dialed right into the final round".

If you dont know what bracket racing is.. hit google and search "foot brake racing" or ET handicap racing".

you've got yourself a "race winner" there.. go WIN SOME MONEY!

lol, Yes i know what bracket racing is, it also runs a pretty consistant 14.1 with the nos. But Im not in it for the money... its fun to me, if i start betting then it will get more like a business than a hobby.. But anyway,

I went to the track again last night to try a few more things, got a little bit of gas hoping the weight will help, and it did.

First pass of the day was a 13.90
Then i decided to let my bud hop in the passenger seat for the ride down the track.....
And what do ya know, she ran a 13.81

More weight more output? I know that generally the more work you give something the more work it puts out. Tell me what ya think.

I used to run the fuel tank as near empty as possible but have found better consistency with around 1/2 tank or just under to start the day at the track. My theory is it is not so much the weight as it is the weight transfer at launch that helps with traction.
