1953 Ford F-100 Need Advise...

J

OCCUPY LoD :)
Hey guys/gals,

Just picked up this clean but old 53 F-100 and want some advise on what I should do with it. It came at an unopportune time because I am buying a house. I saved it from the junk yard and paid single digits for it so I don't have anything but time invested in it (washed it and cleaned out all the trash). The person I bought it from is the original owner's daughter so that makes me the second owner. The truck has some rust but the body is exceptionally straight, almost unbelievably. Currently the plan is to sit on it for probably a year until I can either work on it or sell it. Check it out and let me know what you think.

you can try try and keep it as an unrestored survivor and just get it to where everything is working properly. Or try a factory restoration. I think it is in too good of shape to customize it.

I forgot to mention, I'm pretty sure it runs but the coil wasn't firing. It turns over just fine with a jump start so I'm going to work on it next week and get it going hopefully.

Steve, do you think keeping it factory, but bagging it and putting 24's on it would be too customized? :)

Jesse, what ARE YOU doing buying one of these???? Sure wish you lived a LOT closer!!! Even tho I didn't get my license until this had been out for 3 years!

Bud...it was A DOLLAR!! How could I pass that up? I bet this brings back tons of memories for you huh? :D

The question is who did the person stealling it steal it from? :) It was a stolen recovery from a victim that was planning on sending it to the junker.....I bought it for a buck to make it a legal sale. :) I tried to pay more but it had been a headache for 6 months because it hasn't been registered since 1994. She was going to have to take it all over to get the VIN verified and all that crap. She had three vehicles needing this treatment so I helped her out with that by doing "on-site" VIN verifications and got the other cars towed for free.

24"s wont work, lol

Ahhh, so you used your "influence" and stole it!

To those who don't currently own it (me) it can appear that way. Haha. I could have got the 1989 Escort for a buck too, but ya.....you can guess why I didn't.

What are those 2 QUOTEs at the bottom of all your posts?????

Thanks Bud, now I have 3! :)

One is Mike's when we someone was talking about "mod'n" their car and he posted simply, "What would J do?"

Tixer's is when everyone was talking about the sensor MSHAM (or something) air ride mod and someone had a custom setup in their center console for the buttons. Tixer's quote was that one, lol, he's got his controls ziptied in his glove box all custom like.

aesthetically large rims have jumped the shark, IMHO they got to big, you can even see the tire side walls on some anymore, all you see is rim, it over powers the lines of the car unless you have a monster truck.

Lol...might I ask how you know that? :D Max is saying, "Get it running, sand and paint flat black, and just leave it."

Oh ok...so you mean the won't "work" as in with the looks of the truck. I probably wouldn't go that big, but definitally would need to fill in those HUGE fenders!

lol Jesse, you should prob take those checks down. But still very cool to see. I am trying to get some more info on the truck for you. I think the 53 was supposed to have a flathead V8...

You think they can "use" the bank account number of 1500? Haha. They were already "Paid" and returned with the statement.

It was the last year of the Flathead but unless it had the V8 in the grill, its not a V8. (go figure)
