I wouldn't have let a few corroded pieces of iron bother me under a car like that.
It's not like it couldn't have received new bracing.
I know Jamie told me that the way the 'verts were constructed was enough to worry him, but to have a car like a Gen 1 convertible would be awesome. The hack-job fabrication could have been lived with. I've seen worse cars off the showroom floor. Hell, if you ever owned/saw a Alfa Romeo from the 70's with un-treated steel, a hack-job pre-fab custom coachworks conversion is probably pretty nice.
I still one day might love to have a 'vert VIII.
