98 Mark SC Build

I have decided to make a couple more mods while I am at it.

Good grief Mike... this is turning into another one of those perpetual garage queen mod-fest cars, as in GoldBird and FrankenCougie.

Must be something in the water down there. :lol3:

Looks GREAT Mike! It would be BA if you got Brembo's, it would make your car stand out from the rest of us, haha. Can you get other pads to use with the Brembo Calipers? Also, does that mean you have to swap everything to the 99 Cobra stuff, or does Brembo make stuff for the Mark?

Check out these rims....they were on a 06 350Z Pearl White and man...they looked soooooo nice! They are 20's and the rear tires were 285's! The polished lip in the rear was 6" wide too :err-what?:

Me wanty badly! *drool* So bad I want to sell my car to buy the rims, haha. :embarrassed:

More pictures from Ryan :) Aric has completed everything needed to have the intercooler plumbing done. Now the Mark is off to Bell Chassis to build the tubing. I must admit, this install is a thing of beauty :) Aric and his Team have exceeded all of my expectations!

Sweet...that would be a fun job, building intercooler plumbing and CAI kits. I love doing custom stuff like that.

I agree. Joey Bell - Bell Chassis Works, is the man around here in metro atl. Just google "bell chassis works" to read about his work. :) If I ever go with a roll cage, he will get the business.

I've built 2 cages and several CAI tubes(out of exhaust tubing) and would love to make a living out of it!

Update - While the Mark is waiting it's turn to have the IC tubing made, Aric is going to trailer the Mark over to my friend, Mr. Todd Fisher at Grand Mufflers to have the headers and new cats joined to the rest of the exhaust.

I am also going to see if Todd and Brian can change the tips back to the stock tips I purchased on ebay a while ago. What I would like to have done is to have a 2 1/2 SS pipe centered in the tip to the muffler instead of the offset the stock one has. It should then align with the bumper cutouts and the Magnaflows without further mods I hope. :)

The word for Joey is next week if he can finish a outlaw car project, so we might be in roller countdown mode within the next week or two :)

I sat down with Aric this evening and we are now down to 2 rims that I like alot. He is going to take all the measurements, and see which one is best for the 4 piston Brembos that are going in the car. That is, if there are no fitment issues with them.

Here is a picture of one of the rims - the Forgeline rim. It is a 3 piece 18" custom made rim to Aric's spec's. The center is going to be Platinum Silver, and the lip is either going to be polished or chrome.

roller countdown mode ... lol

Other than the tune, don't put so much faith in the numbers Mike. It should be "track countdown mode". :wave022:

That is true, JP. My Mark will never see as much track time as the Blue Flame, but that is where it counts the most. What it is... is, what it is...

I still feel that the numbers will be there, as Aric has already "built in" more than enough with the parts to handle way more than what the stock bottom end can handle. He calls it - planning ahead for future mods :)

Thanks, Serg. They are 200mph+ racing rims made of forged 6061 T6 centers, 6061 T6 spun rim halves, stainless steel aircraft-grade fasteners, and feature a painted or chromed finish with a polished or chromed lip.

For about an extra $100 per wheel, I can also use
Titanium fasteners, and Jet nuts - they are a Military–Spec Aerospace lightweight nuts made from alloy-steel hardened to 160,000 psi strength specs and then cadmium plated and moly coated.

Combined, these fasteners can reduce weight by up to 2 pounds per wheel.

Mike this thing better be done soon... or I'd ask for my money back hahaha :).

Glad to see some progress. I also like those rims.

The pictured VR3P 18" wheel made to handle the widest tire the Mark can fit in the wheel well, and able to safely carry twice the weight of the Mark, will be around 25-27 pounds with SS fasteners per Forgeline sales dept. A pound or two less using the titanium fasteners.

Nope they were 24lbs each... the tires are also a factor Jesse. Usually the tires weigh almost as much as the wheels, and sometimes more. So with wheels AND tires the combo was around 50lbs

Thats what I meant.....wheels are usually referred to as the "assembly", you have a rim and a tire, combined they make a wheel. lol! :D

Exhaust is done :) HUGE PROPS to Todd and Brian at Grand Mufflers in Marietta! First Class work coming out of that shop. Brian did a perfect job making the stock tips I purchased on ebay accept a 2 1/2" pipe, so I can take the LS1 tips off. Perfecto, Todd! :)
