Anyone familiar with this one?

30 g's. 3,000 miles, i'd rather buy one for 5 g's with 100k on it. a car like the mark VIII cannot sit for that long with no miles, the air suspension dry rots, the seal dry up, ball joints dry up, tires dry up and get flat spots, sure the car looks awesome, but i bet you its a different story when you drive it, probably feels like crap driving.

I think that guy was trying to sell that one on here. Way to much money on that one. $15k (1/2 of what he wants) is more like it.

I do know a lttle bit about that car. About 3 years ago the original owner posted it all over the net. He is an older guy that owns a lincoln dealership, and back in 98 he bought that car for his personal collection thinking it would be worth some money one day. Well the time came to sell, but he was originally asking sticker price for it. He might still be trying to sell it, or someone else bought it and is selling it now.

There used to be a white CE on autotrader with less than 100 miles. that guy was asking close to sticker price also.

In 50 years they might be worth sticker, but not now.

I don't know about all that. I think everyone on this site (who obviously LOVE these cars, or why join LOD?) would love to own that car. Yeah $29K is steep, but I'd pay $20K if I had it.

One car argue the price all day long. But in the end of the day if you wanted a pristine Mark... which is what that one looks like, 29k is not outrageous.

yes it is.considering you could buy that exact same car in no C.E trim for 5000 with more miles obviously, all that makes that one diff is some more wood inside and the two tone seats. that isnt worth 25,000 more to me.

To you it isn't worth much more, but to plenty of ebay bidders it is, they drove the CE prices well above a normal mark viii, and especially when coupled with low miles.

Such is the market for that particular car.

True, but why spend that kind of money on a 10+ year old Mark 8. I find it hard to believe that it will gain in value. You can get a nice one for 1/5 the price, That one just can't be that nice!!

I will probably never buy new again. It's just not worth it.

the way i am with cars is, if i cant pay cash for it outright, i dont go anywhere near it, and the only thing i ever bought that was over 10g's was my 95 silverado, i bought it in 2000 with 40k on it and i paid $11,200 for it from a dealer, i financed it, and would never do that again, i'll never have a vehicle payment as long as i live, i buy used, i buy high miles, better deals and if you play your cards right, the higher mile vehicles have already been all fixed and up to snuff, so its like buying a new car as far as mechanical condition, but a little weathered on the outside, so what! i wouldnt spend more than 8 grand on anything unless i hit the lottery, even then i still wouldnt go buy a car thats 25g's or higher, what for, so people can hit it with stuff, or rub against it, scratch it, your affraid to park it places, you end up not driving it, screw that, give me a vehicle with 100k miles on it in good shape and drive it.

So should be every person that purchased one new. Since they lost about 1/2 their value in 2-3 years.

I did not loose anything yet; I got my mark new and still have it and plan on keeping it for a few more years. I got 133k miles on it and have enjoyed all of them. You lose money if you get another car every few years when most of the depreciation happens. If you hold onto them long enough then you do ok.

Interesting so you're one of those people that believes that unless you sell the car it has lost none of its value.

Not a logic I use. Depreciation is the single biggest expense a car will encounter (for the most part).

The car has cost me just over $3k for every year I owned it and for each additional year I keep it that number will go lower, less any big maintenance items, but even a newer used car you have to put some money into it and all cars need regular scheduled maintenance. If you got it new and sold it in 3 years and lost 1/2 the value then it would have cost you over 6K a year to own.

I would buy that car in a heartbeat. I would even pay the asking price.

But since I dont have $30,000.00 laying around to throw away on ANY car, it's all relative.

I know people that wouldnt pay $6000.00 for a perfectly broke-in, well maintained, clean, tastefully modified Gen 2 LSC.

all of you! lol

seriously. It has always been one of my dreams to own a FLAWLESS Cordovan CE. And as each day passes, fewer and fewer flawless examples exist

to me, the odometer is just a bunch of numbers...3k or 30k...if it's worth the price to someone, then that's what that car is worth.

But in comparison, if I had $30k to play with(and I mean play with), I'd have a kick-butt RV/motorhome that would also tow my race car so I could go camping, and enjoy every second of ownership.

Those days of laboring over a paint job, and stressing over nicks and scratches, or fearing the nearest flock of birds that found joy on a berry bush...those days are over.

I'd rather load up the Peanut truck, and go find JP for some real good times.

But all in all...if I was looking for a clean, low-mile CE, that car would fit the bill.
Think of all those collectible Muscle cars with 7k original miles on them...that sell for $100k+ on auction...you think those cars didnt sit for 40+ years?

No different than people buying thousand dollar suits that they might wear once or twice a year...no different at all.

There aint much market for a used suit.

that price is for the " more money then brains" people , but thats just me, i wouldnt spend 30g's on a brand new car let alone used!! for that exact reason, no matter how well you treat it someone is going to screw it up on you and make you wish you never paid that kind of money.

Thankfully there are some people that are willing to pay that money, otherwise all of us would be rolling in $5000 crapboxes since no one would be willing to spend more than 10k on a new car :p
