i've been lookin around to buy another gen2 mark... found 1 thats about 100 miles from me and it looks pretty good (goin by the pics) its a 97 lsc... opal pearl, graphite interior, octastars', moon roof, & a 1 owner. 31k on the clock. southern car, & goin by owners' word, no accidents or paintwork, ever... what it doesnt have, as a option(s) is, no heated seats, no cd changer in the trunk, and no analog phone. car has supposedly been garaged its whole life. reason fo the sale is the gentleman has trouble seeing due to age and gave up his right to drive.... what do you think its worth? he's askin 5200... thanks 4 ur input in advance :D

Post the link and let us have a peek for you. But from what you say,it sounds like a good deal. 5200 with 31 grand on the clock, can't beat it with a stick. But a pic is worth a thousand words.

i used to have a base model 97 mark & that 1 had 42k on it. besides being a lsc, it was exactly what i had wanted. i had 2 sell it due to personal reasons but i've kicked myself in a ass the second i did.. that one i spent 6k for.. it was the ivory color with cream interior and had the cd changer in the trunk. but, with this one, its just ab as close as im gonna get to what i had.. that was 2 years ago and this is the 1st one, imo, that has come down the line thats caught my attention overall...

it does look like a real good car. the price isn't bad, particularly for a car with low miles, *and* an LSC. I paid about 6k for my '97 base, about 5 years ago, and it had almost 100k on it. but it was otherwise good, and I liked the color. (evergreen)

the features this one you posted is missing, aren't really showstoppers. the CD-Changer is unreliable anyway, but could be added if you want it. the heated seats might be the other thing worth adding later, if you plan to drive it in cold weather. (talk to Badsax about this) mine gets stored winters, do I don't miss them. and the phone? who cares.

I do notice there's no photo of the driver or passenger seats. excessive wear, perhaps? it's tough to imagine for a low mileage car though..

Has NJ tags, i did not know NJ was a southern car, if he lives in FL it would be better for it to be titled in FL much cheaper insurance rates

Price is right if it does have 31K miles and was well taken care of, i am sure you can get a few hundred off the price.

As far as the options, just fart in your seat, the cd changers break so better off with an MP3 player, analog phone is obsolete you can't get service for it.

Note to self: If I ever purchase a car from Steve, burn the driver's seat.

Damn, if you don't buy it, I might! With 31k it's probably a one owner. And being that it an old guy, he probably didn't beat the hell out of it. For $5200, are you going to get anything better? Probably not.

I've got a 97 base now with 43 on her,I bought her with 42. White&black.

well, here's the end result.. ill start with the good.... it is a fl car. the guy has every single piece of paper including window sticker, purchase docs', warranty doc, service records, both sets of keys, service receipts, and recall work... even had a newspaper clip from 97 that a local co posted introducing the car... now, it rained like a b**ch last nite & i ended up getting to the car after dark but he had it in a garage & did the best i could as far as lighting goes... he had 2 spot lights &i brought a creeper & flashlight so this is what i found. --- 3 dings in the whole car(not chip'd), blend door needs to be fixed(figured that) 1 knick in the rear bumper that had been touched up, a screw holding the rocker panel trim down on driver side, bad powersteering line(low side) seeps a bit, and the moonroof isnt factory. dealer install'd it & there's proof of it via receipt.. upper control arms r ok but both boots @ the ball joints are dry and rip'd but the front end is tight... got him down to 4k out the door..... think i did pretty dam good imo.... a little tlc & its gonna be a pretty nice ride for the $...

thanx! i dont think i did too bad... from what ive seen over a good amount of time, these cars are defintely holding there own considering the market in its present state.. i thought to myself, there really isnt any type of car out there, with that kinda mileage, thats as cheap as this... tho there are a bunch for sale, they all have pretty high mileage, and have had a rough life for that kinda price..

when i purchased my first mark 8, i had the blend door repair'd by my mechanic & he did say it was a real pia... just came across the link and detailed pics of how to do it.. it does look involved but not really all that hard to do... even tho it cost me a 300 bucks(i think) the 1st time, im gonna tackle it on my own this go round... i have the time to spend but the patience part is where i kinda lack... like anything else with tiny tabs, brittle parts, and barely getting xxl gloves to fit, it should b interesting... sorta seems like a 2 day thing for me.. just so i can walk away from it for awhile instead of breakin somethin... for the 25 bucks plus the slick presuure fitting sleeve i saw posted, it should b a 1 shot deal...

$4000?

Impressive...most impressive!

For the blend door, just go to the hardware store and use a spring steel hose clamp. That's what I did.

Congrats on the purchase. Good price and there doesnt seem like too much bad stuff going on.

As for the blend door, I replaced mine in about 4 hours start to finish just using the printouts from this website. It should be no problem for you sir.

most of the time i dont bother cleaning up my tools from one job to the next but i think this time, itll b a good idea to give them a good washing.. with the light graphiite color, any smudge is gonna show.. ill do my best.. as for my 2 pitbulls, well, they are very curious about having a strange car in the garage.. as long as they dont decide to nap in the back seat, it should be a pretty straight forward job.. its kinda tuff not showing them attention while im doin whatever, but a nice steak diiner mixed in with the dog food should make em wanna pass out for a bit (as long as its not in the car!)

Good find and a great buy! Post some pics when you have it buttoned-up!

For the body I would wash it, claybar it, then 2 coats of Zymol polish and you'll be good to go!

Yeah, it's the deep south of New England... :p

Factory looking heated seats can be added with the correct accumulation of parts... my grey car was the test mule for that endeavor, and the operations was a complete success... :D

as always, when i get a new(used) ride, i gotta go full tilt. now, its pretty much tore apart. washed it 3x's wheels off and scrub'd inside and out, new tires (245 50's) cross drilled & slot'd rotors, new pads, r&r upper control arms, r&r bottom ball joints (boots rotted away), seats out, rugs scrub'd, leather clean'd(carefully) & condition'd, stupid aaa stickers removed(lol), oil swap'd, filters changed, and lastly, in the mid of getting the blend door repair'd. most of the stuff i did b/c of being anal and wanting to hit the street knowing that its as close to what i call 100% road worthy.. o yeah, the fuel filter was never changed since new and wow, the thing had a buch of crud in it. seems to idle much smoother now. was gonna change the plugs but with 30k on her, i dont think it would make much sense at this point.. what do u guys think?
