big tires

i had 285-35-18 michelin pilots on the read of my 97 when i bought it, i currently have 265-40 michelin PS2's on it the rear right now but i am taking them off this weekend for a new set of Hankook Ventus R S2's fronts are 245-40 and the rear are 275-40 thats wide enough for me. even with 245-40 in the front i get mad bump steer, but i think after my front end overhaul and alignment most of that will go away. these were my 285-35 pilots

As long as cost if of no concern and you have such resources then this whole thread is kind of pointless since you would be going where nobody has been before. Ive never heard of anything as the described intention. Having said that, pretty much anything is possible if you throw enough money and time into it. You might have madd skills as a fabricator for all I know.

So assuming it could be done and you got as far as integrating the suspension system from a late Vette to a MarkVIII the wheels and tires would be the downhill slope of that job. Pretty simple to spec something out once everything is in place.

Im just glad to see a tech thread in the tire and wheel section here that has some sauce in it...So please continue.

M&H specs the 325-45-17 out at 11.3" of width and 12.6" of section width requiring an 11.0" wheel you could sneak by with a 10.0 or 10.5" wheel in my opinion. Not impossible to fit in there obviously.

Im curious what your wheel width is because that tire doesnt look terribly pinched in the photo.

driller were you reffering to me? 275-40-18's? because if you look at the pic i posted up above those were michelin pilots and they were 285-35-18's that i had on my car when i bought it.

Did it still have the air suspension? If so, were the fenders rolled?

no my car is on lowered coils and they are rolled, i have never once rubbed a tire. here is another pic of the same 285-35's, these were the pics that were sent to me when i was deciding on buying the car, thats why you see cali plates.

Thanks for the pics.

On coils, I would be inclined to think rubbing would be much less an issue?

well not if i had a car full, which i never do anyway, i have another mark VIII for family trips, i am the only one in my 97 95% of the time. its is lowered too so its even that much closer, but so far so good, knock on morning wood! i am selling the speedstars and ordering new wheels, i wont say what yet, but i will post pics after i get them on the car with the new tires, i currently run a 265-40 in the rear but i am going back up a tad to a 275-40
