Blizzard in Chicago area

Yes there were several accidents on Lake Shore Drive. And the road became undriveable, They shut it down and made people abandon their cars. They somehow got people out and towed your car to a parking lot free of charge. It was quit the fiasco but they probably had no choice.

I can't believe that some of them left without rolling up their windows!!!

I spent the week traveling and missed the worst weather but...

Left mid-day Monday, temps at home right around 30, partly sunny and 6"-12" of snow on the ground. We flew over the worst weather at 41,000 feet. In case you're wondering, outside temps were around 60 degrees below zero at that altitude. :)

Later that afternoon in Nebraska, on the ground it was -6 degrees with a 25 mph steady wind, higher gusts and blowing snow. The walk from the tarmac to flight operations center and back was bone chilling.

Stop in Nevada and IIRC there was no snow except in the higher peaks and temps were in the mid 20's in the desolate high desert country.

Arrived later that evening in Redding, CA - clear skies and temps in the 40s.

Tuesday was partly sunny and 30s in the morning, 50s in the higher elevations later in the day.

Left Redding mid-day Wednesday with clear skies and temps almost to 70.

Planned stop at Steamboat Springs, CO was canceled as scheduled work was suspended with temps at 20 to 25 below zero before the wind chill factor!

Wednesday evening in Denver was single digits and went below zero overnight. Brrr...

The next day Denver was warming up to near 30 as we left and flew to central Oklahoma. People there were digging themselves out of a once in a lifetime snow event with anywhere from 4" to 12" snow and drifts several feet deep. Afternoon temps were near 40.

When we arrived back home Thursday evening, the skies were clear, most of the snow we had left on Monday was gone and nightime temps were in the 20s. Today it was mostly sunny and highs in the 30s.

You were all over the place! Work trip?

Unfortunately, yes.

Every once in a while, we will find time for some kind of non-business activity, but not this time.

I was hoping we would at least find time in CO for a snowmobile excursion, but it didn't work out. :(
