Blizzard in Chicago area

Nothing to report here in Minnesota, either. 2" or so on Monday, nothing yesterday or today..

Isnt technology something! Most of the time I think with a rather youthful bent but when I see current technology like this, ie like looking at your front and back yards from Lincoln, NE, it makes me remember that my real memory sharpens in the later days of WWII. Black and white movies, etc. and when you thought of security, isolation was the basis, and I'm still depending on it today.

Sounds like a war zone by me, ice branches breaking and then hitting the ice on top of the snow

So it is officially the 5th worst of all time in Chicago. MAy be the 4th by days end. Worst part is the dog had to pee and there was a 3ft drift blocking the backa nd front doors. HAd to shove her out the basement window. Then I climbed out it and shoveled the drift. LAst one like this was 1999 and it was 4 inches larger. 1979 was also bigger. Will post some pics later. Just cleared the driveway. There is a 4ft drift on the bottom half of the drive way. No even going to try at this point.

Haha, I'm watching live video of one of Paul's neighbors snowblowing his driveway. All you can see is the top of his head and a big plume of snow shooting up in the air.

The thing about '79 was that it snowed and snowed for weeks not just a couple days. All the accumulation was unreal. I lived in Mt Prospect then on the corner of Busse and Catalpa and Busse road was like a Luge slide with 8 ft high snow piles even between the lanes.

Right now my cat is all nervous. She loves sitting on a chair and looking out the window and the snow is blocking her view.

I remember 79, cause I went to Glenbrook South in Glenview and the roof collapsed, and school was closed for over a week IIRC. Then I remember trudging through snow to walk to school when it re-opened.

These are the camera's I have. http://tinyurl.com/6h78fmt

What's really cool is with the right software on your PC (or Mac in my case) and on your smart phone, (iPhone in my case) you can check all the camera's from any where there is internet in the world. The camera on my Mac is also available to view but that's disabled except for me, for obvious privacy issues. :)
whats the software you are using?

I'm on a Mac and use SecuritySpy I use iCam on my iPhone.

The Panasonic camera's come with software but it only works on a PC.

To get it to work over the internet, I needed to use a static IP address and use a DynDNS which I got HERE.

If your router supports UPnP I don't think you need DynDNS, but my U-Verse modem, a 2Wire, didn't.

I heard like 1,500 people got stuck in their cars over night on the highway. People, stay home!

Yes there were several accidents on Lake Shore Drive. And the road became undriveable, They shut it down and made people abandon their cars. They somehow got peopel out and towed your car to a parking lot free of charge. It was quit the fiasco but they probably had no choice.

Man...it was terrible today. Even my animals didn't wanna go out in the 72 degree weather. :D

Lol Steve, I'll take a 3 second earthquake over having to shove Duke out of a window to go take a dump, haha.

Eric, few and far between. Every month I drop the price because I keep making payments. It'll sell, eventually, hah.
