Carlisle 2009

OK, I'll agree with Leo's assessment. Yes, the Market Cross Pub had a great selection of beers, and IIRC the food (mine at least) was really good. However, it was a small room comparatively. I forgot about the separate check thing.

The Sunnyside had room, but the food wasn't good (I ordered lobster, and it was WAY overcooked), but I could get something else next year, lol. They closed really early too it seemed.

I didn't realize Gingerbread didn't have private rooms, so that'd be out.

Why the hell you would order lobster in Pennsatucky, next time try the possum road kill. :D

When did you meet for dinner last year? I'll be in a campground at the west end of town....we can always drink (whatever ya bring) around a campfire. Penny will be driving the Mark up there behind me towing the fifth wheel.

Bud, we always have the club banquet on Saturday evening, but we usually find ourselves together somewhere less formal on Friday night.

Plans are set, reservations made and we're registered - ready to go. We'll be arriving Thursday evening this year and staying through Sunday night, departing Monday morning. Then it's a quick stop home for a day before hooking up with the Hot Rod Power Tour for vacation. ;)

We're open to anything . . . we enjoyed the Market Cross Pub too.

Leo, do you know if they have a larger room we could use for our banquet?

Has anyone taken in the Comfort Suites restaurant - The Gas Light Grille? What about checking their banquet facilities?

Perhaps we need to get there earlier?

I think we meet at 8PM don't we? The first time we went there it was set for 7PM and a lot of people arrived late so we had to push it back to 8PM and we lost the room.

Not as far as I know, we were about 18 people last time and that was about the capacity of that room. If we want to reserve something for Fri eve perhaps we could go there? Rene, the number is 717-258-1234. And if we do go you can tell Brad I promise to order that "girlie" beer again... if nothing else but to annoy him! :fart

We really should reserve somewhere for Friday. We sometimes end up wandering the streets looking like a migratory herd seeking a watering hole. LOL :D

The Market Cross Pub was pretty cool and usually we have less people on Friday, so that might be a good place for a late night dinner and drinks.

The Comfort Suites has facilities for consideration...

If you're looking for conference facilities for business and social events, look no further than the Comfort Suites.

The Heritage Ballroom is 4028sq. ft., and it's able to handle 325 for a banquet, wedding, class reunion, corporate or association meeting. The ballroom divides into four separate meeting rooms. There is also a spacious executive boardroom with executive style seating.

We can accommodate up to 400 people in our banquet facilities. We have affordable rates on food and beverage services. When it has to be perfect choose Comfort Suites for you wedding complimentary jacuzzi suite for bride and groom with booked reception.

Whatever your needs, the Comfort Suites will be there.

We have been meeting at 8:00, because 7:00 was too early for some. Should we try 7:30 this year?

Friday night: I will check into a reservation at the Marketplace for us, in the biggest room possible. Please annoy Brad as much as humanly possible, Leo . . . you know he dishes it out, so he needs to take some back too!!

Saturday night: I have to wonder if there was a new cook at the Sunnyside last year, because it was the first year our food wasn't perfectly done. I'll call for more details on the Comfort Suites deal, and maybe that will help us make a decision.

7:30 may be a compromise. Usually some don't leave the fairgrounds until 5PM or later so it makes it difficult to be rested and ready for an early dinner.

Planning For Fun.

Planning For Fun.

Is it too early to start talking about Carlisle 2009? You know me, I like to plan early!
January? Too early? Nahhhhhh :)

It was great to see 40+ Lincolns in a row down on the field in 2008.

Similar to the 2007 turnout and our Siamese tents.

Between LOD and our Club, there were probably 40 pre-registrations plus a handful of gate registrants. The goody bags are always a welcomed treat. We started late for our 2009 bags. Unlike LOD, the Lincoln Mark VII Club has to kidnap CEOs just to get a dozen keyrings :)

Nothing major has changed between our 2008 and 2009 plans except there will be no chips or pretzels this year. It only makes people more thirsty. Drive in. Park. Shake hands and kiss faces of people that you only get to see once a year and then, PLAY WITH CARS FOR FOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS!

I've picked up another Mark VII (OldSchool9) and should be bringing that plus PINKIN (OldSchool6) this year.

Same here John.
I didn't get many pictures of people at the tent. You Guys had like a home away from home going on there. Every time I came by your cool and comfortable tent, there was someone sleeping and it made ME sleepy! I vaguely remember something about a Dude sleeping with a purse and a teddy bear? <BEG>

Maybe we'll share a pint before the weekend is over. We're doing the Sleep Inn/Cracker Barrel weekend thing again. From Cracker Barrel, I can easily stumble across the parking lot and fall into my bed.

This isn't a good idea and I'll tell you why... we never know the exact number of people until they actually show up. Remember last year? We had to keep adding tables. The year before... we had 10 empty chairs.

Do you really want to commit to the number of people and have them choose ahead of time what to eat? Sunnyside is ideal because we order from the main menu and everyone gets an individual check... simple and no hassle.

Also, I found nothing wrong with the food, the prime rib was great.
